According to that guy...India were better at times than Iran and India almsot scored twice just missing both times he said...not a bad performance at all...if our U19 can play like this against an Iran team that beat PAK by15 goals....things are looking bright...

Our u-19 super striker KanghembamThoi Singh is doing well at Mahindra Utd and has a big sponsorship with Nike:

http://www.expressindia.com/latest-news ... ed/241493/

This young man impressed on a India u-16 team to Portugal, and he has a eye for goals, great news to see him do well. Good to see a young striker playing for a top Indian club, I only hope he does well enough to start the matches for Mahindra, which is hard with the foreign strikers. Mahindra also has Sushil Kumar, another India youth striker who has been quiet, and Manjit Singh the other India senior striker.

I think if you add Lalampuiya from Mohun Bagan, Vimal Pariyar from EB, Anil Kumar from Salgaocar, plus also PIO's Gobin and Arata, there are young strikers that can progress this season. Most of these strikers do not have the height of foreigners but they have somegood skill. The goal of every fan is to see a Indian on the top goalscorer list after the season

Hopefully he can make an impact, althought with the absurd rule change by the AIFF of allowing an extra foreigner it will be even harder for him to play striker or play at all...

yeah true, what I would like to see is a rule for the clubs that when they sign a player they sign a contract for a set minimum period if that is legal.
The reaon is some of our top clubs just bring players in from overseas and after one game when they do not score they tear up their contract. It is very unprofessional and if they are signing the player for a minimum period at least they will think twice before just bringing in any striker from Africa.

This is all part of the proffessional change we hope to see.

I noticed that a bunch of our U16 and U19 national team players are currently playing for their states in the U19 National Championship. U16 Striker Manandeep has been playing well for Harayana and just scored a crucial goal in the quarterfinal to take them to the semis. U16 midfielder Raldrinka has also been scoring for West Bengal, he's looking like a future stud as he played very well in the U16 Asia Championship qualifiers. I noticed 6'2" Robin Singh scored two goals in the quarterfinals for Jharkand to take them to the semis. He was in the U19 probables for the U19 Asian qualifiers but for some reason wasn't on the final squad. How could we leave a promising 6'2" player off of our roster?! Another young midfielder I like is Arjun Tudu who has played for our U14 and U16 squad in the past, for some reason he was not even chosen for the U19 National Team probables. His accolades in the past include "Most Promising Player" at the Subroto Cup and he just scored a hattrick for Bihar yesterday in the U19 National Champs even though is squad still got edged out by Haryana.

Indian Youth Football

Post by arjun2761 »

Apparently our futility in Football starts pretty early. In the World Youth Cup/Gothia Cup somewhere in Sweden, India sent multiple teams but they all lost by pretty big margins.

http://www.dnaindia.com/sport/report_ah ... es_1276257

The coach of one of the teams had this to say:
Coach Chauhan echoes similar sentiments. "Bjorkelangen had a few girls rubbing shoulders with the boys. It was an unbelievable sight. Those girls dribbled the ball and got past our players easily," said Chauhan, who is pretty satisfied with the results as the boys had very few days of practice before they left Indian shores.
I guess the coaches start by setting the bar pretty low.

Our u-16 side, the All India Football Federation’s (AIFF) Regional Academy boys, finished fourth in the International Youth Tournament, their first, in Holland on Sunday ... An encouraging sign.

AIFF U-16 Academy boys finish fourth
The boys, who form an integral part of the U-16 Indian national side, lost marginally to Dutch heavyweights AZ Alkmaar’s Youth team for third place.

This was after they lost to Israel's Maccabi Tel Aviv in a cross final (a match to determines one’s entry into the final of the tournament). What’s surprising is that the Indians lost both matches after dominating them outright.

The saplings had earlier beaten the likes of Deportivo Saint Maickol and SBV Excelsior, both by a margin of 1-0, before drawing 2-2 with current champions FC Volendam, a team against whom they made a comeback to lead before eventually surrendering the initiative.

The Tel Aviv side though took the lead in the last minute of a frantic first half as a penalty would foil India’s successful attempts to hold on. The opposition converted, bluffing keeper Dheeraj Singh.

The second half saw role reversal as it was the Indians who pressed hard with the Israeli’s sitting deep. The match drained on and though India made significant progress, they were unable to beat the Israeli’s who advanced to the final.

In the third place decider, against AZ Alkmaar, Dheeraj Singh again came under scrutiny as he failed to gather an aerial ball, conceding at the far post in the first half. With a mountain to climb, the young Tigers rallied to score in the dying embers of added time in the second half after Edmund Lalrindika, romped past two defenders and squaring the ball to Bodo Baoringdao, who tapped in to ensure parity at the final whistle.

Direct penalties followed and it was the Indians who would conceded the match when Nijwm Muchahary, the in-form talisman for the side, missed his penalty after Prosenjit Chakroborty and Krishna Pandit had scored from the spot, when the score was at 3-2.
