Re: Football: Indian National Team news ...
Expected 8 nil drubbing against the Americans.
Saw bits of the match on TV yesterday night…. We simply have a long way to go when competing with top teams. Our girls just seemed to be content in clearing the ball as soon as they received any possession.

who is watching the qatar world cup? think i will be supporting iran but they have a pretty tough group. never sure that united states are a secure team and could beat wales. hard to see who is the favorite to win world cup but have to want messi to finally win, or ronaldo tbf would top off either amazing career.

^^ Iran??? You supporting Iran?? Why? As the top Asian team? Iran beats India at everything, so I can never support Iran in anything. Anyway, I support the USA. GO USMNT!!!

I am too. But, more realistically, I suppose for the future rounds, as a resident of Germany, I am supporting Germany ...

^^^ Nothing wrong with Iran, but if you won't stop throwing in betting links into your posts, we will have to ban you from the forum! Mod, Jay

If someone does not know what's wrong with Iran, then they have perhaps been taking a boat across the pacific the last two months without any connection with the world ...

Some friendlies coming up for us in late March (22/24/26) in a tri-nation tournament
India to play Myanmar and Kyrgyzstan in friendlies as Manipur plays host in March (PTI in Sportstar)
Kyryz Republic is #94, India in #106 and Myanmar is #159 in FIFA rankings. The dates look weird though. Two of the teams will need to play 2 matches with 1-day rest (I suppose the home team plays with 3-day rest). I didn't even know that FIFA would allow two matches in 3 days.

Tulsidas Balaram the last surviving member of the famous trio of PK Banerjee, Chuni Goswami and Tulsidas Balaram passed away yesterday. He was the last from an era where losing to Iran wasn't a certainty and India had a pretty competitive team.

Forgot about this yesterday. India beat Myanmar 1-0... Gosh, we need to be better than that at home. Thank God for an Anirudh Thapa goal in injury time.jayakris wrote: ↑Tue Feb 07, 2023 12:36 am Some friendlies coming up for us in late March (22/24/26) in a tri-nation tournament

The dates seem to be different than mentioned in the above article earlier. We are playing Kyrgyz Republic only on the 28th, not 26th. kyrgyzstan plays Myanmar on the 25th and then us on the 28th. We won't allow them much rest
