i dont know how many of your actually noticed but the times of india finally wrote something (negative about indian football) as it is they have a very tiny column when it comes to writing something positive about indian football.... they covered the barretto story and all the scandals in indian football on one whole sheet of the times of india.. is that postive?

East Bengal will play Tottenham Hotspur in exhibition match at Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata ... East Bengal is asked AIFF to give permission of playing some good players from other clubs to give tough competition to English side ... If AIFF gives permission then team will play under name of 'East Bengal Invitational XI'.

First Tottenham Hotspur's agent approched Indian national side for the match but our national coach Bob Houghton declined offer stating our team would be preparing for SAFF Cup during that time.

Mohun Bagan playing against Bayern Munich on May 27 at same venue.

Let him buy the team, and make money if he can ...  If a few Indian people also get a clue about top-notch clubs from all that, perhaps they could all use be useful in running some decent clubs in India 5 or 10 year down the line.   Perhaps a couple of Indian players also might get a chance at one of the lower level developmental teams in the Newcastle system.  This must be a business decision from Anil Ambani, and not to help Indian football etc.   Guys like him do not have time to help Indian sports, and perhaps his time is better spent on other things that help Indians while he makes some money for his company ..

So, it is good news, but it does not have any big direct immediate impact on Indian sports, I think.
