Slightly better in second match but it was still a 2-4 loss from being 2-1 up at half time against Australia.

Today not a good day for us. Vidit and Humpy lost. Others ended in losses. In open section, Nepo at top with 3 out of 4 points, Gukesh joint second with Caruna at 2.5 , Prag with 2 points and Vidit at 1.5.

In women, Vaishali 2 out 4 points tied 3rd, Humpy at 1.5.

Sumit is #93 in official rankings, his new career high. He is #86 in live rankings. If he loses today, others may overtake him and he may end up around #90 in next Monday's rankings. If he wins today, can get to # 80.

Sumit had beaten Arnaldi in their only meeting so far but that was way back in 2019. Arnaldi is playing his first match on clay this year, he has been quite good on clay last year though, won couple of big clay challengers and won quite a few matches at ATP level.

And Sumit makes it a 5 game streak from 2-5 to 7-5 to win the first set.

Sumit breaks again for 6-5.

From 2-1 up to Sumit, 4 games streak by Acosta for 5-2 and now 4 games streak by Sumit.

From 2-5 down, Sumit levells it up at 5-5 in first set.

That stream is very shaky, not working well for me. But, Sumit lost 3 straight game, with 2 breaks to be down 2-4 now in first set.

Our mens team started 5 match test tour of Australia and first match turned to be our usual story against Australia - 1-5 loss. Why do we struggle so much against Australia ?

Ramesh did win an ATP title on European clay courts in Stuttgart in July 1982. So. I am surprised he went to Monte Carlo only once. Also French open only once it seems again in 1982. So, it seems that was the only year Ramesh played on European clay and did not play again even after winning the title.
