Re: Billie Jean King Cup (previously Fed Cup) - India

Ankita should have stood herself down. She’s in no position to play singles. What a disgrace. Yes, I’m calling the end result a disgrace, Ankita included. There’s no way to sugarcoat this.

Dinesh wrote: Fri Apr 12, 2024 5:58 am And the doubles nomination was changed from Shrivalli/Prarthana to Ankita/Prarthana. Does Ankita even have the energy to play one more match?
She seems to be playing with a lot more confidence in the first and only game I watched.

Re: Billie Jean King Cup (previously Fed Cup) - India

It was sad to see Ankita being reduced to a league level player. Rutuja, OTOH, was solid and hitting with oomph and panache. Liked what I saw from her. The Indian team is practicing on the court. It looks PT on the far end, but I can’t make out who is on the near end in red leggings. From the pony t...

What a difference in the body language and intensity today from Rutuja. Good going.

Re: Indian Premier League (IPL)

Thanks, Prasen. I know it’s fun. The team will be announced at the end of April while IPL will end after that. Therefore, our selections cannot be based on full data from this year’s IPL. I’m resigned to accept that the old guard will be given another chance. I think they’ve already chosen the team ...

Re: Billie Jean King Cup (previously Fed Cup) - India

We must credit Ankita for regrouping and coming back on the courts right after her singles loss. It isn’t easy and she proved again that she’s a fighter. Of course, PT deserves the credit for leading the dogfight. You could see the intensity that was missing. Small body language things like fist bum...

Re: Indian Premier League (IPL)

Karr, your appeal came just in time. Second refreshing post from you in the last few days. I was about to ask Prasen and Rajkumar to call truce and focus on data based discussion now as we near the team selection. There is a fundamental difference in opinion among the two about whether to drop the i...

Isn’t the other Taipei lady a multi-slam doubles winner? Doesn’t look that intimidating.

What’s with that happy birthday song playing in a loop in the background. It’s annoying to me; don’t know how it’s impacting the players.

Re: Billie Jean King Cup (previously Fed Cup) - India

Meanwhile, Ankita has started horribly in doubles too. Prarthana saved her at a break pt with a great net shot but the Taiwanese are killing us. 1-3 down a break, after Ankita stands like a statue when the shots fly around. I see a bit more spunk in the Indian pair than what was almost none in sing...

Is it the same lady who beat Ankita playing in doubles too?
