Re: 2007 European Tour: Jakarta Astro Indonesia Open
This is a phenomenal result by Shiv. He is now joining Arjun, Daniel, Jeev, and Jyoti as being a world class golfer who would be be competitive even on the PGA Tour and SSP Chowrasia may not be far behind.

Re: Sania Mirza - General Discussion of tennis matters
I think Sania is playing at a solid top 30 level now. To get higher than that she has to improve further. My hunch is that she will reach her peak next year.

Re: 2007 European Tour: Maybank Malaysian Open
It is nice to see SSP have a sub-par final round and come up with a T16 finish. He will now have to learn to string together four good rounds and finish in the top 10. Interesting note on English here. "Sub-par" in English typically means a poor performance which in golf would equate to ...

Re: 2008 Beijing Olympics Qualifying
Agree that goal scoring is problem. However, in football, I think we have problems in other areas as well. Are we dominating possession (in the middle third of the field) and/or shots on goal? If so, we can say that poor strikers are our major problems. If I were to guess, our defenders and GKs...

Re: Rajeev Ram thread...
Rajeev defends his Joplin points.
2nd Round:
Rajeev Ram (201) d. Phillip Simmonds (253) 6-3, 7-5.
Now plays Jamie Baker (268) in QF -- a good opportunity for Rajeev to advance further.

Re: Rajeev Ram thread...
Hopefully, Rajeev will do well here. Last year, he was injured in Joplin and gave a w/o in the QF. The injury kept him out for 5 months. On the positive side, he has no points to defend for 5 months other than the Joplin QF points for last year.

Re: World Cup 2007, WI - 11th March 2007 to 29th April 2007
Worry on talent is in the pace bowlers and the fielders. In batting and spin bowling, we have world class talent although the form of some our batsmen is iffy (especially Sehwag and Dravid) and Kumble does not seem as good as he has in the past.

Re: Davis Cup (for India) 2007
Now you are contradicting yourself. Play close enough to almost win? .. Isn;t that what RB did against Verkerk, losing 10-12 in the 5th set. He was 2 points away from winning a couple of times there, and served second, facing defeat some 5 times before losing. Actually, I had excepted RB's perfo...

BTW, just a disclaimer. We are discussing nutrition for world class athletes in physical sports. Otherwise, for most of us, excessive protein (beef or otherwise) causes a myriad of diseases and is not recommended.
I am interested in any studies that the good doc has on these issues.

Re: Davis Cup (for India) 2007
Actually, your analysis of RB (match against Verkerk excepted) and especially HM ever raising their level is flawed. You base it on winning a few extra games in matches in which they are generally comprehensively beaten. Often the far superior player (Roddick, Johansson etc.) will take such player...

Re: World Cup 2007, WI - 11th March 2007 to 29th April 2007
Our form as well as talent going in is worrisome. While our batsmen are very good, their form is questionable. However, our fielding is poor and our pace bowling is poor for ODI purposes(Munaf excepted) and they are playing to form.

Re: Davis Cup (for India) 2007
One thing is there though - in 8 ties under Leander Paes, no Indian has been able to play even marginally above expected in nearly 30 singles matches, and we have seen at least 2 or 3 matches where our players played below par. Under Ramesh Krishnan, we at least had RB taking sets off Verkerk, an...

Re: Davis Cup (for India) 2007
Agree with Kujo on the Hopman cup issue. The guaranteed money is far more than that guaranteed in Chennai open and the ATP points (5 for an expected first round loss) is just not that big a factor. Furthermore, Hopman cup just does not have the tradition of a national event in the sense that the D...
