Re: N.America Summer challengers .. Bops, Kash, Karan, Sunil

Arun, Thanks for a comprehensive report on the stars of Indian tennis. Your report was such fascinating reading and I felt I was court-side.  Along with Harsh's success and his acknoledgemnt of the support of fans like you, Indian tennis is in great hands.  Indian tennis fandom might not be  wide sp...

Re: Harsh Mankad thread (At $25K Manchester Trophy..)

Kudos to Harsh for staying with it and coming through. Very heart warming!! I have always felt he had the game since I saw him play at the Qualies of the USO last year.  Hope to see him again.  I love his brand of tennis.  Congrats to a champ!.

2006 PGA Majors- British Open / Shiv Kapur & Vijay Singh

Thanks for the info on Jeev. I did not know about him since he does not play the PGA. I walked about 9 nine holes with him before the sun got to me and I had to retreat for a spell. There were a good many following the young man with the bag with Indian colors on it and a swing that's characteristic...

2006 PGA Majors- British Open / Shiv Kapur & Vijay Singh

Jeev Milka Singh making the cut is very exciting. I have never seen a Golf Pro from India before and I plan to walk the course with him and watch him play. Vijay Singh will have to wait. How good is this guy - obviously very good, but how good? Has he won anything big on the other tours? This is exc...

Harsh Mankad thread (At $15K Rocklin, CA Futures..)

Nice to see Harsh back on the court competing. I thoroughly enjoyed his match at the US Open last year in the Qualies and look forward to seeing him strike a tennis ball again. I just love his all round game, which has been missing from Indian tennis for a while. Whether it is the Futures or the Cha...

Sania Mirza Tournaments ....

Critics should not cross the line with personal bitterness. Sania has weakness that can be overcome, but she is a work-in-progress. No matter what level she reaches, her achievement so far has been spectacular given the opportunities in India. She is talented beyond question, has a fighting spirit a...

ATP Tennis/Non-India Davis Cup

Ashish, Yes we did meet at the US Open last year and hope to see you this year. I wanted to thank the forum members who are so devoted to tennis and Indian tennis in particular. Without this forum, it would be back to scanning the NY Times or a Indian paper web site. Far easier to follow Indian Tenn...

Murray is sneaky good! He has gears in his game and he suprises you with the change from defense to offense. Roddick looked almost clumsy. Its back to the drawing board for him - players have caught on to the serve and the one-dimensional inside out forehand. Murray trained in Spain on Clay for more...

WTA Tour/Non-India Fed Cup

Hingis has trouble with speedy retrivers and those who frustrate her with big serves. Sania has neither capability. Hingis will take control of the point early and have Sania run a lot. Of course Sania could play sublime tennis - which she is capable of in stretches, but this is worth paying to watc...

c'conked, thanks for a wonderful match report! For someone who does not get to see Sania on TV but once a year at the Us Open, your report is priceless. I think she probably needs to play the way she does and not change too much. The first time I saw her as a junior I almost walked away in frustrati...

I did mean it as a spot of humor. I wouldn't want to insult Ramesh in anyway. He provided me with the greatest joy of watching any tennis player. I had the great fortune of watching Ramesh play Brad Gilbert in the 80's on an indoor court in New Jersey, because of the rain. It was the Quarters and ab...

ABN Amro Challenge (Rastogi Defends Title.)

Karan seems to have made some big strides. I saw him at the US Open Juniors few years ago and he was very raw, but had a fire in him. He was frustrated and angry at everybody around. I thought he needed to settle down and not be so harsh on himself. Obviously he has matured and should be very, very ...

Glad to see Hingis make a go of it. I think she will get up to speed in a few months. The only ones that seem to give her trouble are one with great court coverage like the William sisters and Graf. I dont' thonk power should effect her. Once her groundies were returned, her service got exposed and ...

Sania Mirza Tournaments ....

ON another post PK Basu had mentioned that Sania's serve is more effective from the AD court than the Deuce court. I get to Sania once a year at the US Open and have to rely on the fan here for her progress. From my brief observations, it seems she is concentrating on generating racquet head speed i...
