Re: Leander Paes thread...
Interesting conversation from Basra's Twitter account. Sorry, I know very little about Twitter. I don't tweet and don't follow anyone either. Now, this is interesting! Somdev Devvarman @SomdevD 26 Jan 2012 Things I hate: spam Reply Retweet Favorite Expand Sukhwant Basra @SukhwantBasra 26 J...

Re: Leander Paes thread...
It is interesting that most of such news come from Sukhwant (who was an active reader of the forum at least until some years ago and still may be one). He also seems to move around from newspaper to newspaper himself. Nothing wrong in any of this, just an observation. P.S. I don't care about Jaideep...

It became RRIP -- Really Rest in Peace
I wasn't discussing the topic further -- I just wanted to respond to PKB (and compliment him for his carefully constructed posts).

Re: SHARM EL SHEIKH, 2014
I'm curious: Do Indians somehow get a free ride to tournaments in Egypt? Sharm-El-Sheikh is a resort town, IIRC. It couldn't be cheap (Rupee is hardly cheap anywhere). Except Haadin Bava, others are finding hard to even win a game or two. What purpose do these matches serve? With players hurting for...

Re: India in NZ, 2014
Duncan Fletcher needs to be renamed Drunk Belcher and need to be dunked in a tank of whatever he has been drinking and releasing from all his orifices in the body. What is he doing as the coach? We haven't won anything in Eng, Aus, SA, and now NZ. I think not even a warm up game. Down with Fletcher....

Re: WTA Tour/Non-India Fed Cup
PKB, to be fair, you did not say GS, but you did say top-10 and a slam contender. The use of GS came later by others responding to the argument. Accordingly, my original response was indeed targeted at only your conjecture. I know you are very precise about what you post and I like that.

Dhruv, Suresh is not alone in experiencing the problem he described. I also get this problem, as recently as this past weekend. It all started about three months ago although the problem is much less frequent now. Thanks for all you do to provide us this wonderful forum.

Re: WTA Tour/Non-India Fed Cup
Kujo, OK. This is a diversion from the original topic anyway, which itself is a diversion from the title of the thread. I got sucked into this argument. I am gonna unsuck (extract) myself. It is best to let this topic RIP. Sania is not playing singles anymore, so why waste precious energy on specula...

Re: WTA Tour/Non-India Fed Cup
Just pointing out that expecting Sania to win a singles slam is a super stretch itself; winning a GS (that is all the four majors in one calendar year) is ______________ (fill in the blank with the hyperbole of your choice). One thing that sticks in my memory of even Sania's best days is her inabili...

Re: WTA Tour/Non-India Fed Cup
PKB, as I have written before, Sania' s performances against Serena and win against Kuznetsova were probably simply a matter of arrogance by the opposition or novelty factor. It is not that Sania wasn't good, but you can't necessarily read what you are trying to imply in those performances. The fact...

It is almost like listening to my echo Prasen
P.S. If we can't teach our bowlers to bowl better, can we at least teach them to bat better? That would make a big time difference.

Re: India in NZ, 2014
Yes, I agree with your latest assessment. For some unknown reason, I am not a fan of Rayudu but I'd drop Dhawan and Rohit before anyone else in the batsmen. Rayudu can plan in place of one of these.

Re: General Cricket Thread ...
Soon, there will be no one left to play with, even if BCCI doesn't take control. IPL is a stupid idea, for Indian cricket. If BCCI does what you suggest, then cricket might die. It's best to just grow the pie. Take a slice of the watermelon rather than the whole grape. And make it a big enough slice.

Re: India in NZ, 2014
Frankly, I couldn't care less if Mishra plays or not. It makes ZERO difference. It doesn't matter to me which loser of a bowler we pick. Just get a batsman. Where is our Cory Anderson? We don't have a single batsman who instills fear in the opposition, ever since Sehwag departed from the team. Yuvi ...
