Re: Virat Kohli Thread

I tried to find a thread on VK but it didnt come up in the first 2 pages of search results so i assumed there wasn't one. I accept my mistake! The greatest ODI batsman of all time deserves a thread of his own. That would be SRT or Viv Richards. The game of cricket evolves substantially in every gene...

Re: Indian Wrestling Thread ...

@jayakris You made some very good points, cannot disagree with any of that and the fact that he also didn't say enough afterwards. Goodluck to them for their married life! @arjun2761 disappointing result. Im not sure if these were the top 8 countries in the world based on some qualifiers, but if the...

Re: Indian Wrestling Thread ...

The crime was very serious here. Anyway, everyone makes mistakes. I hope he learns and moves on in life, becomes a clean athlete again and earns laurels. Cannot disagree with the seriousness however there is some probablility that there was some foul play involved and it might not be his fault. I a...

Re: Test series in 2017

@prasen9 I do agree he can become a lot better by being more consistent. I dont disagree with the decesion of dropping Gambhir, I just feel that he probably deserves more respect that he gets. I think it also has a bit to do with not being very elegant to look at while batting. He also didn't he hav...

Re: Test series in 2017

Gambhir was brilliant in both NV09 and SA10. He is surprisingly undervalued despite having done some amazing things. He was also Indias best batsman in both the world cup final victories (07 and 11)

Re: Test series in 2017

I think the team did pretty badly in Australia. They did okay maybe for some sessions, but, that is too little. We need the team to win abroad. We must take into account that it was the first Australian tour post Sachin(and all other seniors). Dhoni also played in only two tests. So we didnt have a...

Re: Indian Wrestling Thread ...

He did claim that he has passed dope tests all his life. He had won many international laurels prior to the Rio Olympics, all of which had stringent testing standards. The level of awareness athletes have in a sport like Wrestling is pretty low. This could be attributed to the fact that the sport is...

Re: Indian Wrestling Thread ...

Any news on Narsingh Yadav? Its very sad how a tremendous wrestler and a lifetime of insane work was wasted away. He should probably try to convert to some sort of mixed martial arts competitions. These professions are so risky, the guy did everything right his whole life and then 1 glitch ended it ...

Re: Yuki Bhambri

Maybe he is looking to get 1 freak result rather than a gradual comeback. Given his abundant ability and high fragility that might not be a bad strategy. He might be waiting for the right time when he feels very confident of going for a big kill. Admittedly this is only a guess, I havent looked up t...

Re: Test series in 2017

Also Australia has never won a series in India in the recent past except 2004. Agreed that on an average they have managed to be more competitive in India over the years than the Indian teams were in Australia. However the difference is not as much as is stated often. I think we Indians tend to over...

Re: Test series in 2017

The Indian team did fairly well at the last australian tour before the world cup despite what the scoreline suggested. Most players from that series have matured and grown really well. I expect India to do much better the next time they play overseas. I agree with the selection of Rahane over Nair a...

Re: Test series in 2017

The current talent pool of Indian Batsmen is incredible. It must be so tough on the players mentally, even a triple hundred doesn't guarantee selection. Its remarkable how far Indian cricket has come. Its probably for the first time since legendary Hockey teams of Dhyan Chand and Co. that India are ...

Re: Karan Rastogi Thread ...

Most people would have given up when faced with the kind of injuries Karan had to deal with. Its such an amazing fightback, he managed to carve out a unique path of continuing to do what he loves to do. Very inspiring attitude. Speaks volumes about his self belief and a cool head.

Re: Rahul Dravid ...

Given Dravid's stature a Doctorate from Bangalore University would have been completely insignificant. So yeah he was very respectful in the way he turned it down, but I wouldn't read too much into it. It was just a wise way of turning down something he didnt care much about.
