Re: India in South Africa, January 2018
Huh? Dhawan played a fantastic innings. Not at Kohli levels but did very well. Without him, we would not have reached 300. The worst innings was played by Dhoni. It shows no respect and trust in people who come after him. It leaves them with fewer balls and having to hit out and get out :-( You are...

Re: Best MBA Colleges in India for sports management
IMHO sports management is such a niche field that one couldn't and shouldn't depend on a college degree to lead to a career path in it. The best way is to find a way to start adding value to the sportsperson/team you think you can manage in some capacity. If you cant already do that then try to acqu...

Not everything is determined by fairness in this world. The answer to this mystery might lie in the power to influence possessed by her kinsmen

Re: Mahak Jain
So after she found money for 13 foreign trips to places like Pakistan, Korea (twice), Malaysia (twice), Thailand, Germany, Netherlands, China, Egypt, Japan, England, and USA in the last two years, she is suddenly out of sponsors and funds to play one of the 4 most important events she can play now?...

Re: Mahak Jain
Im not sure if proper handling is the only problem here. Travelling to Australia to play a tournament is a significant expense, more so if 1 or 2 people travel along to support the player. Im not sure how rich Mahak's family is but even families which are fairly well to do say 85th percentile househ...

Re: Virat Kohli Thread
Jay's original post was about the number of players we have produced of world class in cricket. So, I did not include sports such as weightlifting, boxing, and Leander, etc. I chose sports where we have had players who were, say in the top-3 of their sports at some point in time. I understand. I wa...

Re: Karman Kaur Thandi
Take a risk and play the higher level and when your ranking drops play the lower level to bring the ranking up again. Only play the lower level if it is may be substantially cheaper and money/travel is a very serious consideration. Completely agree. Athletes hoping to make tennis their profession s...

Re: Karman Kaur Thandi
Ankita has had access to a lot lesser resources and guidance than most of the other Indian female players who have done well. She is also shorter than most and despite that she has done better than everyone barring 4 of them(Sania, Nirupana, Uberoi, Rao). Sania was exceptional and Uberoi and Rao tra...

Re: Yuki Bhambri
He needs to improve his game further and becomes good enough to need to play lesser and still be secure about his ranking and funds. If we hypothetically take away those 2 insecurities(Ranking and money), he might be able to reach a much better place relatively easily. Unfortunately in the real worl...

Re: Yuki Bhambri
He is only 25. We shouldn't already start talking about last Hurrahs. There is a chance that he might learn to manage his body better with age and realize a significant part of his potential. With modern advancements in nutrition and fitness its possible to maintain tennis fitness well into ones 30s...

I would also want to include Mary Kom in that list. She won the world championship 5 times. Unfortunately Womens boxing was not an Olympic event in all those years. Finally in 2012 when womens boxing was included in the Olympics, she had to fight in higher weight category when she was way past her p...

Re: Virat Kohli Thread
By the way, Viswanathan is probably one that I would respect at the same level, but he is not in a sports event. While reading through your comment I was thinking of Anand and then that thought was validated when I reached the last line :). I cant agree more with your comments. I consider 3 other I...
