Re: Indian Badminton Thread ...

Yes, good to see Saina prevail from 20 all in both sets (though she was the first to reach 20 in both sets and allowed her opponent to get level). The young Thai player is deceptive and very strong at the net and looks set to challenge the best in the coming days. Sania's attacking game helped her i...

Re: Indian Badminton Thread ...

I dont think she carried a serious injury. She was troubled even during the SF but it wasnt anything serious. To say that one needs to be 100% fit to play isn't right. One seldom is fully fit. My guess is thst she is letting go the Super Series because she wants to be fully ready for the World Junio...

Re: ICC World Twenty20 2012 - Sep - Oct 2012, Sri Lanka

I think what Prasen meant was that if pakistan looses a close match and India ties the match, the NRR of India could be marginally higher. The super over doesn't matter (even if we loose it). We are talking about the NRR here, as long as the runs in the super over are not taken in the NRR calculatio...

Re: ICC World Twenty20 2012 - Sep - Oct 2012, Sri Lanka

I too didn't think that Kohli couldn't score those runs in the last over because he wasn't trying (or scheming). Ajmal is a very good bowler and Kohli dominated him in his first 3 overs but he came back well in the 4th. Nothing unnatural.

Re: Indian Badminton Thread ...

I never saw any mental block in her game. Her lack of experience showed which is only natural for a young player.

Re: Indian Badminton Thread ...

True. Also, she had defeated Saina in straight game the last time they met at India Open in April 2012 (though the head to head is in Saina's favour at 4-2).

Good fight towards the end, but that was not enough. Good luck Sindhu in future.

Re: Indian Athletics Thread ...

Yes, I too think it was pointless to award the best women athlete award to Tintu. Perhaps they did it because it was the performance that came close to Asian standards. But I think Shraddha Ghule deserved it. Siddhanth Thingalaya was certainly missed. But I think he is in Australia training under Sh...

Re: Indian Athletics Thread ...

In Women's 800 m, Jessy Joseph from Usha School, who is considered a future prospect, should have bagged the 3rd position but was felled by Jyothi Rani near the finish line. Jyothi Rani finished 3rd and was subsequently disqualified.

Re: P.V. Sindhu thread. Young badminton sensation!

Watched her QF and SF matches and I’m very impressed. She is undoubtedly a great player in the making. She is already up there, able to complete with the best. A year or so should see her in the top 5. Hope she continues to train hard, and keep herself away from injuries. I would say a future world ...
