Re: Indian Athletics Thread ...
Good to see Jaisha and Sudha Singh doing well. Jaisha is a fairly new entrant to the Marathon scene and this was only her second Marathon competition. In her first attempt at Mumbai marathon in Jan 2015, she broke the national mark which had stood for 19 year, and here she has improved her own natio...

Just a small correction in the timing of Indian women relay team. They finished in 3:29:08, which is a fairly good timing by Asian standards.

Re: Indian Athletics Thread ...
It did make a difference, but what do you mean by 'huge'? The difference between Tintu and the last qualifier was 0.25 S and I think she lost at least 0.5s in the process. She clearly lost pace. I agree she was tired and was being passed but she lost time and a place in the SF.

Re: Indian Athletics Thread ...
I liked the attitude of Lalita Babar, she is a gutsy competitor. She lead the field till 2000m mark and there were times when she lead the rest by about 40m. Though it was similar to Tintu Luka in leading the field, she is different as she isn't afraid to try out different things. Hope continues to ...

Re: Indian Athletics Thread ...
True about the training part. She has no strategy at all, except to run in front.
She got tripped at around 650m mark and lost time to recover her balance. Else, she would have gone to the next round.

Ashwin for captain? He may not be a great player, but he has a good head on his shoulders.

Can't believe India pulled this off. Iran looked to be the better team.

Pooja Rani also lost a close one to her Chinese opponent. Was hoping for wins from her and Sarita today.

I think Swapna Barman is a great prospect for India in Heptathlon at the asian level. She is just 18 (today happened to be her birthday) and finished with 5178 points in 5th place.
BTW, she has 6 toes in each foot and just wearing a shoe is painful for her.
