Jeevan loses 6-4, 4-6, 3-6 to Lemke in round of 16. Good performance overall to go 3-3 in sets on European clay.

Prakash Amritraj thread... (at Newport ATP qualies)
He needs to maintain this intensity for more sustained periods; if he does, it wouldn't be too difficult for him to be ranked in the top-200 by the end of this year. Prakash has actually played very consistently this year - 3 challenger QF's, 2 futures SFs, 4 davis cup wins, etc. Only 1 main draw f...

Our juniors still struggling on European Clay. At the Astrid Bowl G-1, Vivek Shokeen and Sandhya Nagraj lose in straight sets in their first matches. Hopefully, Jeevan can pull out his first match against an American (not typically clay court specialists).

Sania Mirza - General Discussion of tennis matters
Don't agree with nballa's prognosis. Sania is already playing top 40 tennis and will get there very soon unless injuries come in the way (remember losing to a 30th ranked player on her favorite surface doesn't mean that Sania is not a top 40 or better player on Sania's better surfaces). How much fur...

Yes -- dissapointed in that there are no winners yet. However, let's not forget Arjun Atwal's two top top-5 finishes on the PGA tour this year -- in terms of achievement (and certainly in terms of money) it probably tops all of the titles won last year.

Is Sachin a match winner?
I expect that he will do just as well but the expectations may be higher given India's success in the last 5 years!

(recently in that lake nona vs Isleworth). I find it hard to believe Arjun's comment too. I havn't seen the golfers he mentioned play, but I have seen Annika play and other regular PGA golfers play. I mean she is never in trouble. she rarely misses fairways and greens. I believe she will beat most ...

Indian Athletics 2005/2006 update
I think the 2005 stats are not real relevant since the season has just begun for Indians. Also, while we do not win medals at olympic level, our athletes have produced medals at Asian level meets and recently at commonwealth level meets. In triple jump, I recall Mohinder Singh Gill in the the 70s ju...

Davis Cup 2005 (WG playoff vs SWE in India!)
. this would look like silly for some coz we dont have any real clay court specialists..but then again our grass court specialists(PA n maybee LP) aint good enuff for them on any surface anyway...so y not just make life miserable for them(swedes) by making the external factors unfavourable Of cours...

I don't think we should over react to these losses -- particularly for HM. Playing against 100-265 ranked players on Red Clay is one or two levels higher than winning a satellite masters in the UK (against players ranked in 300-700 range on a faster surface) and HM really played well enough on a sur...

"Killer Instinct" and confidence (to a lesser extent) is a result of success and not its cause! The really great players develop their killer instinct and confidence by being really good. Generally, they get really good by training real hard (talent being assumed) so that the shots they ex...

Actually, a lot of people consider Aussies like Hewitt to be be jerks and the hostility to Hewitt by his opponents in the Australian open is pretty good proof. See also their sledging in cricket. Also, Hewitt has been accused of racist sentiments in his matches with James Blake a couple of years ago...

claycourt is and will always be HM's gr8est opportunity. he can do well on hardcourts and grass too...but clay'z gonna be his biggest opportunity. period. Actually, clay is his worst surface. You have to be a baseline monster and have a lot of stamina to do well on clay and none of the Indian playe...
