Re: Davis Cup 2023 - India

Rohan should retire from playing Davis Cup. Give the youngsters a chance. There’s no scarcity for doubles specialists. So, are we relegated to the World Group II? Yes, group 2 tie in September which should be fairly winnable even with current form of our players. Will summarise later likely opponen...

Re: Davis Cup 2023 - India

Sumit played superbly after the first two games of the match against Rune -- during which he got almost no points. But from the 3rd game on, he got the measure of Rune's strokes, and it was a pleasure to see him matching the world #9, breaking his serve twice and putting him under severe pressure. ...

Re: Davis Cup 2023 - India

First of all this loss shouldn't be traumatic as never expected these also rans to script a win , it is just that we eternal hopefuls increase our optimision every time , that it appears a huge dispointment Rohan once again politely refused to play with Ram and in the process suffered his 4th strai...

Re: Davis Cup 2023 - India

I have long known that there is only one hope left in Indian tennis, and that is Sumit. I can see the smug grin wiped off Holger runes face when he is playing him. That is evidence enough for me. The Indian flag flies proud when Sumit is playing. Prediction - Sumit will push rune to 3 if not pull of...

Re: Davis Cup 2023 - India

We lost 26 46. :-( Rohan Bopanna was pretty bad in this match. Age seeme to be suddenly catching up with him. Yuki started playing better later in the match. Suddenly? It has been known for at least 5 years that Rohan was good for mixed doubles and nothing else, because his men’s game was still eff...

Re: Davis Cup 2023 - India

Bad choice of doubles team for a critical tie. Any doubts in anyone’s mind of the total incompetence of the AITA, Captain, coach? It is a disgrace and a crying shame.

Re: Davis Cup 2023 - India

In the face of this farce, will the AITA continue with Ali and Rajpal, the loser comedians?

I think it will!!

The Indian team is completely lost in space. Poor Rohan. He should retire from men’s doubles.and Yuki should retire from tennis completely. He is a joke.

Re: Davis Cup 2023 - India

I have been watching media coverage for the past two days on this Davis Cup tie in india. Zero mentions about Sumit’s win. All kinds of mentions about Yukis loss.al kinds of mentions about indias past greatness The doordarshan commentator is a total moron who keeps mispronouncing Holger Rune as Rune...

Re: Davis Cup 2023 - India

It is so very clear to me. Our Davis cup team needs a military-style trainer who can whip their sorry asses in shape. Only Sumit clears the bar at the moment, and in his case we will only need a strong supportive tennis coach that can work his ass on the court to achieve razor sharp consistency and ...

Re: Davis Cup 2023 - India

and if there is a provision for the reserve player to be considered for the opening singles then it could be a toss up between Sumit & Ram. Even before the tie started, knew that Sumit was going to figure in the plans and not at all surprised by his inclusion and how well it turned out to be. N...

Re: ITF Junior circuit 2023 India

Exactly the situation that I was expecting. Thanks, gautam. Pathetic situation, and I do not see much of a change, unless somebody like Somdev can take over and run AITA. But AITA is not the only issue. Harsh, Prakash, Stephen, Somdev, etc, not getting into serious coaching in India is not helping ...

Re: ITF Junior circuit 2023 India

It looks like AITA is a lost cause. The State Associations have to take charge and mount their own programs. MSLTA is pouring money and resources behind Manas Dhamne. I’m sure Nandan Bal is involved. Why can’t Harsh, Nandan, Somdev and others build on that momentum by joining together? I know Harsh ...

Re: What ails Indian tennis? Nearly nobody in top-300s

Actually both Anand and Amanpreet make good points. I can vouch for Anand personally. The guy was as cool as anyone on the clutch points and had an uncanny ability in shot selection at critical points. Helped Vijay a lot with it too. When we compare with Badminton’s success, we can see what an impac...
