Re: Ind v Aus (ODIs and T20) in India, 2007

India is a completely different beast in the world of 20-20. two reasons which were quite obviously on display today 1) they can only sustain brilliance for a few overs and that is enough for the 20 over format but not in the longer version 2) running between wickets, i never saw them run like this ...

Re: Ind v Aus ODIs in India, 2007

I think the ICC must advocate keeping track of statistical information based on the results akin to tennis. in tennis we have stats like most consecutive wins, no of wins agaist a top 10 player etc etc. notice that every stat has the term win or loss against it. cricket needs to adopt this so that i...

Re: Ind v Aus ODIs in India, 2007

Here is the relevant entry from the cricinfo commentary: 18.2  Pathan to Ponting, OUT, Big blow. Ponting is stumped. Full in length, slanting away from Ponting who leans forward to drive. The bat comes outside the line and the ball threads the bat and pad gap. Dhoni gathers and whips the bails off ...

Re: Ind v Aus ODIs in India, 2007

i see how this going aussies will be up 4-0, the occasion will bring out the best in the legendary tendulkar who will chose the moment to carve out an attacking century- "silencing the critics" like some might say - prolonging his unwelcome stay in the batting line up for a couple of more ...

http://www.hindu.com/2007/10/03/images/2007100356742101.jpg Im sorry to say this but the imbecile shanta sreesanth needs to be banned from international cricket. his pretend agression is more dangerous than actual agression and im saying this because agression in sport is always pretentious, and th...

Re: Please put in suggestions and errors for the new site here

So Naveen “Raju Bharatan” Balla, when are we going to see your first column at Sports-India?  :D me writing columns for sports-india is more out pf place than narain karthikeyen sitting the judges chair and pretending to listen to yet another miss india contestant who single handedly wants to elimi...

Re: Misc. news about Indian hockey

In India, the “lesser mortals” have to fight for their rights! Maybe that’s true around the world. When it comes to Indian sports, cricket does not have to do much to “earn rewards”. It gets them even when the team is losing! Hockey, on the other hand, has to struggle. Thanks to Carvalho’s statemen...

Re: Misc. news about Indian hockey

I am absolutely disgusted by the behaviour of the hockey coach and players. hunger strike for rewards!!! I mean its one thing for those meatheads to act that way, but im shocked by the support they are getting from the sports-india community who are supposed to be educated individuals. so our cricke...

Re: should we change our national sport to cricket?

Does it make a difference whether we call cricket or hockey or another sport as India's national sport?  If it does, how?  Would India change its national sport every time the Indians became world champion in a different sport?  To me, the term national sport is meaningless.  Those who understand s...

Re: should we change our national sport to cricket?

Not many people know that cricket was the "national" sport of Canada, of all places!!  For India, I say it should be kabaddi.  Or how about police corruption?!  Or "Crossing an Indian Road!" That should be an Olymic "track & field" event! i would never watch or pla...

What would be your choice for national sport?  Test, ODI or T20?
do we need the format?
we already won two world cups and made a final.
we are no 2 in tests. so we are good at all three.

should we change our national sport to cricket?

I think its time.
canada changed its national sport from cricket to something else.
a national game is something which we should be good at.
