Re: Billie Jean King Cup (previously Fed Cup) - India
I believe it is now between India and Korea to be second team to advance. On paper, we have a decent matchup with them although they (the Koreans) appear to be in better form.

Re: Roland Garros Claycourt Run-Up Tournaments 2024
I believe Madrid qualifying starts on April 22 (Monday) as it is a 2 week Masters event like IW and Miami. So, he could have played Munich next week (where he made the main draw) and then played the Madrid qualies with no overlap. I'm hoping this is just a rest and recovery break and isn't due to in...

Re: Roland Garros Claycourt Run-Up Tournaments 2024
Perhaps, he is taking next week off? Looks like he may next play in the Madrid Master Qualifying? Perhaps, he is listening to his body and feels some rest is good for him to recover and play well through the summer. Hopefully, it is being proactive and not reactive to some injury that he's picked up.🤞

Re: Billie Jean King Cup (previously Fed Cup) - India
Wow, great to see the doubles win by Ankita and Prarthana. I went to sleep as they lost the first set thinking it was all over. Pleasantly surprised to see that they came back to win.

Re: Roland Garros Claycourt Run-Up Tournaments 2024
Yes, Sumit showed that he can play at a top 30 level on clay. He can probably play at a top 100 level on some of the slower hard courts as well. Given that the clay season is pretty extensive, he has a chance to really move up if he can stay healthy. 🤞 Given his high effort style of play, hopefully ...

That isn’t Su Wei Hsieh. It’s the #27 doubles specialist who played the first singles match partnering ES Liang.

Re: Billie Jean King Cup (previously Fed Cup) - India
Their top player has been getting thrashed, so maybe having a niggle or is completely out of form. Just speculation on my part on why they would sit down #215 over a doubles specialist.

Re: Roland Garros Claycourt Run-Up Tournaments 2024
^^^Hopefully your dream will come true in a few hours. :D Looks like only Bautista-Agut can get ahead of Sumit this week, so he will end the week at a new career high of 80 or 81 even if he loses. Well Bautista-Agut lost, so Sumit is guaranteed to be at a career high of 80 next week. Now if he some...

Re: Roland Garros Claycourt Run-Up Tournaments 2024
I don't know if RPM stats are available anywhere. I think Sumit (like his near last name namesake) hits the ball with more top spin than most. That makes his shots heavier and harder to handle than the pace (which is on the lower side) would indicate. I noticed that especially when he was playing Bu...

Re: Billie Jean King Cup (previously Fed Cup) - India
The thrashing from Qinwen even seemed to affect our doubles team which lost 1-6, 1-6. The Chinese had lost the doubles to TPE, so their doubles pair isn't that good but Prarthana and Rutuja seemed pretty resigned to losing.

Re: Billie Jean King Cup (previously Fed Cup) - India
Yes, Qinwen Zheng has come to play and wins the first set 6-0. In the previous match against TPE, she lost only 1 game to #215 opponent, so a similar result seems on the cards.
