Re: Afghanistan in India T20I series, 2024
Problem with Samson is that he is only good at #4, which limits his usefulness. He has to contend with NTTV and Gill. NTTV in particular makes a strong case since he can also bowl, so allows us to play Jitesh at #6. With Samson at 4 and Jitesh at 6, we don't have any extra bowling option in case som...

Re: India in South Africa, December 2023
I don't think it is correct to say that selectors are using IPL to select players. Case in point is Mukesh Kumar who has played just 1 IPL season in which he was quite bad, but still got selected for all the formats. In fact if the selectors used IPL consistently, they would have made far better cho...

Re: India in South Africa, December 2023
I agree Akash Deep should have been selected ahead of Mukesh Kumar in the first place. He has a better domestic record (albeit slightly) and also has likely more pace (being listed as rmf in comparison to just medium pace). However I am afraid he may not be quite fit currently since he missed the la...

Re: Indian Premier League (IPL)
I would have Rohit, Jaiswal, Tilak, SKY, Rinku, Jitesh, Axar/Jadeja, DLC, Bumrah, Kuldeep and Siraj. Our bowling is admittedly weak but we don't seem to have better options.

Re: BWF tournaments Oct/Nov 2023
While Unnati is establishing herself as our #2, her performance against higher ranked foreign players has been quite poor. This could also be psychological. She needs to improve her game considerably against better players before being considered a contender at the world level.

Re: Indian Premier League (IPL)
I am not sure Hardik currently deserves a spot in the first XI, leave aside captaincy. If he can get back to scoring fast, then maybe he would. Including him would actually upset the team balance. We would still play 5 full-time bowlers so we would end up a batsman short.

Re: India in South Africa, December 2023
In a country of 1.4 billion people with almost all boys in the right age group playing cricket, we are not able to produce even 3-4 good quality fast bowlers is really disappointing. There must be something really wrong in how we are nurturing our upcoming talents. That Arshdeep and Chahar are the b...

Re: ODI World Cup, 2023
I don't agree with your statement. We would have gotten to SF with or without Rohit playing the way he did, such was the gap between the sides. In the SF, I don't think Rohit's innings were very impactful, in the end, it may have made a difference of 10-15 runs if he had played normally and gotten o...

Re: ODI World Cup, 2023
Eventually it was the ultra aggressive Rohit's batting approach that led to our defeat. When you have only 2 reliable batsmen in the lineup, then for one of them to go bonkers like this just doesn't make any sense. It would be fine if it was one of the "disposable" batsmen like Gill, Iyer ...

Re: ODI World Cup, 2023
In the end, Shami saved the day, otherwise Kohli's selfish innings could have cost us dearly. Also feeling very grateful for the fortuitous injury to Pandya

Re: ODI World Cup, 2023
We are still highly reliant on Kohli and if Kohli had not been in this form he is in, we would have likely lost. The younger generation, Gill and Iyer, need to take more responsibility and learn fast from their mistakes, otherwise we are again going to lose in a crucial match if Kohli gets out early.

Re: 19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2023
Women's hockey was definitely #1. Boxing doesn't have reliable rankings, but what more proof of #1 is needed other than winning the world championships.
For triple jumpers and 1500, will need to check the season's top list.

Re: 19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2023
Nikhat's loss in the SF was pretty disappointing, after she won gold in the world championships. Lovlina's result was a bit disappointing as well. Between these 2, you expected at least 1 gold. The triple jumpers disappointed as well I think. I expected a gold in men's 1500 as well (maybe irrational...
