Re: England in India 2024-25 : The Pataudi Trophy
My point is: did they choose by the eye test or did they choose the statistically best and these are indeed the statistically best? When we say the eye test, we mean they chose someone over another person with better record. If record test and eye test result in the same individuals, then why do we...

Re: England in India 2024-25 : The Pataudi Trophy
As I have been saying, we can use the eye test to select precocious teens who are geniuses. Actually England also believes in eye test, not just for geniuses, and they are doing very well. Hartley had 40 wickets in 20 first class matches with an average of 37 and he was selected for test matches. E...

Re: England in India 2024-25 : The Pataudi Trophy
Furthermore, 20 matches is not that large. Players improve. Point is if someone does not have good record in 20 matches then you wait till the number of matches increase for record to get better and not select him for test matches unless you are doing an eye test. Actually for eye test to work you ...

Re: England in India 2024-25 : The Pataudi Trophy
But Kuldeep does have a googly so he turns it both ways. That is the advantage of wrist spinner if he is accurate(Which Kuldeep has become recently). Also I think Kuldeep is a better test batter than a limited over batter and I think adequate number 9. It is difficult to say anything about Kuldeep b...

Re: England in India 2024-25 : The Pataudi Trophy
Jadeja may not be available for next match and that will compound India's problems. India does not have a bowler who can spin both ways(wrist spinner). Kuldeep is their but typically I have seen that in test cricket chinaman bowlers are not selected. Now if Jadeja is not there and Kuldeep is selecte...

Re: India A Series ....
But I don't think he'll get a chance in this series as I don't expect our batters to fail. English spinners are not good and though our batters are also not great, I don't expect them to fail against this raw English attack.

Re: England in India 2024-25 : The Pataudi Trophy
I think we will win this in 3 days. Ours is more balanced attack. Bumrah will be effective in 3rd innings also. BTW, Sarfaraz Khan finally scored a hundred in A tour match. But I don't think he'll still get a chance as I don't expect our batters to fail that badly in this series. Timing is also impo...

Re: Australian Open 2024
Saw the entire match. Sumit was very good in the first set but Shang was also making lot of mistakes. And the combined effect was that Sumit won it very convincingly. Later Sumit got tired and Shang also upped his game. Shang is 18yo and I think we'll hear more about him in future. He was able to ad...

Re: FIH Olympic qualifier
Lost, in the end, on sudden death after teams ended with 3-3 after penalty shoot out.
Hopefully they'll win tomorrow against Japan to win bronze and qualify.

Re: AFC Asian Cup - Qatar, Jan-Feb, 2024
Much better second half. Still Uzbeks are dominating but India also had few attacks. One hitting goal post and another drawing a very good save from their goalkeeper. But the gulf in technical skills is too much.

Re: Australian Open 2024
He'll be around 118 in terms of ranking. What would be required by him to get direct entry to other slams? How many points are going to dropped off in coming week for Sumit and what is the cutoff in the slams for direct entry?

Re: India in South Africa, December 2023
I think average of 57 at better than run a ball is better than just good. But I agree he had played fewer matches than needed for WC selection. My question is why was he not played more and against tougher opponents in that 2 year period. FC, T20 does not(at least should not) matter for ODI WC selec...
