Re: Should only Indian-passport holders represent India?

Each sport has its own rules and regulations. I don't see the point in having rules over and above this. If the Tennis Federation or IOC permits XYZ to play for India as per its rules, then I have no issues with that.

Re: England tour of India, Nov-Dec 2008

Prasen, November-December is monsoon time in Chennai and hence not a good time for tests here :-) Suresh Suresh, You are right about December. Averages . But, maybe Nov or Jan is not that bad. Anyway, bad light/short days is guaranteed in the north --- almost, but, with rain you at least have a cha...

Re: Saina Nehwal Thread - WR No. 10 on Dec. 4, 2008

I like Wang's comments on Saina's speed -- clearly that was an area that she needed to work on earlier in the year. Nice to see her working on that aspect and hopefully her fitness levels also pick up. Yes, it was kind of unfair to have her playing the last match of the day and then the second match...

Re: England tour of India, Nov-Dec 2008

Sathya, It is cold in Mohali and conditions are favouring the bowlers. So batting hasn't been easy and Dravid and Gambhir had to really work for their runs. So, all in all, 453 is a good score to have on board and has more or less won the series for us as PKB mentioned in an earlier post. Bad light ...

The match is over and Saina lost in three sets. The link which I use is:

tournamentsoftware.com

and then click under badminton. I am sorry about the delay in providing the link (I saw Michael's post after the match was over!)

Re: Saina Nehwal Thread - WR No. 10 on Dec. 4, 2008

It is a fabulous win for Saina. She is up 21-10 3-3 against Mew Choo Wong as I type this message.

Edit 1: Me and my itchy fingers put a jinx on Saina. She has lost the second game 21-17 after coming from behind to tie it at 13. :frown:

Re: Saina Nehwal Thread - WR No. 10 on Dec. 4, 2008

Saina has to play two matches on Friday. The first one is against Hongyan PI [4] and the next one is against Mew Choo WONG [6]. It appears to be tough baptism into the top-10. It would be great if she wins one of the two matches. Good luck Saina.

Jaydeep,

You got the scores reversed in the Saina match. It should be 21-18; 21-14.

Re: England tour of India, Nov-Dec 2008

Finally, Sachin has erased the bitter memories of our loss in Wasim Akram's Pakistan in Chennai -- Sehwag mentioned it in his MOM acceptance interview! It is (almost) unbelievable to see that a guy who scored centuries in both innnings (Strauss) end up on the losing side and not get the MOM.
