Re: Paris Olympics 2024

Having said that, what are we talking about? 3k-5k savings by not sending one more competitor? We should send the most promising three of the lot just for them to experience a high-class event and get their Olympic debut out of the way. The idea is that they would perhaps then learn something or ge...

Re: Sumit Nagal thread

I guess Sumit is second in line for an LL spot. Qualies 6th seed Rodionov is ahead of him. So Sumit needs two withdrawals. Not much of a chance.

Re: Mukund Sasikumar thread

Since Mukund's name is properly listed now, officially in ATP/ITF draws (as of last month, I believe), I have changed the name of the thread from "Sasi Kumar Mukund" to "Mukund Sasikumar" :) .... Mod, Jay By the way, sometime after that, ITF again started listing him as "Sa...

Re: Mukund Sasikumar thread

Mukund was at the M15 in Sharm Elk Shaikh, Egypt (Hard) but got upset in a very poor match... [R1] (2) Sasikumar Mukund (IND,426) l. Petr Bar Biryukov (RUS,792), 36 16 He just cannot seem to ever get into a groove long enough. Maybe he is still injured or ill? He was ill or injured when he gave a wa...

Re: Sumit Nagal thread

Poor loss for Sumit unless he was hampered in some way! Or perhaps, Hong just has his number. If people dare Sumit to move up constantly, he can be beaten, because he doesn't do that well at all. Nobody would try it like this, but in Hong's case, that seems to be his game. I was reminded of Leander...

Haha, I was being charitable. He was quite atrocious at the net :) ... He needs to put in some work on this. Volleying can't be this difficult!

Re: Sumit Nagal thread

[Q2] (8) Sumit Nagal (IND,101) l. (ALT) Seongchan Hong (KOR,227), 62 26 67(4) So Sumit fails to solve the Hong conundrum for a 4th time. That guy has an old style game with a one-handed BH that is extremely accurate. Sumit needed to move up and kill his BH shots more often. He tried to, but made a f...

arjun2761 wrote: Mon Mar 04, 2024 11:30 pm Good win for Sumit and he's lucky to get an ALT in Q2 (Hong ranked 227) instead of 124 ranked Watanuki. He should definitely be favored to qualify.
Favored, yes, but this match may not be easy, unless Sumit is in his top form (i.e, not tired or dinged up)

Re: Sumit Nagal thread

LP crossed $1mm in 1998 when he turned 25. Of course, most of his earnings were in doubles. Obviously, 1mm in 1998 is worth quite a bit more than 1mm today. Actually when he crossed 1 Million in 1998, I think he had about 60% of his earnings from singles. At least 500K. After 1998, it was probably ...
