Re: Misc. news about Indian hockey

On the other hand i still have to see what the hockey captain is whining about. an average cricket match brings in 3-4 crores to the district which hosts a match involving india(this is just the tickets and the ad hoardings), and a chunk of this goes to the state. a hockey match will be lucky if it ...

Re: Misc. news about Indian hockey

i agree hockey players should get the same treatment. lets burn some effigies of hockey players and pelt their homes with stones when they lose. now all we need is to find out who they are and where they live(punjab is it?) on a serious note it might not be far fetched to take legal action against t...

A joke on MALLUS  :D Misbah thought he was hitting the ball to no man's land. He simply forgot about the fact that there is a MALLU in every corner of the world..... its a very lame joke wich doesnt work under the hidden assumption. i think the joke maker's idea of world is india and saudi. atleast...

Re: ICC Twenty20 World Cup, South Africa (11 - 24th September, 2007)

is this world cup gonna be a yearly thing? it would be stupid to play this kinda tournament once every four years!! also i see an overkill of the format in the coming year, every tom dick and harry wants to arrange a tournament. these games will be like bubble gum, you chew them spit them out and fo...

Re: ICC Twenty20 World Cup, South Africa (11 - 24th September, 2007)

wow that cant be good for the heart. anyways i dont think its proper to castigate malik for his comments, for most muslims religion comes before nationality and language and they make no secret of it (like the refusal to sing national song for instance). the greeks found beauty in tragedy, they wrot...

Re: ICC Twenty20 World Cup, South Africa (11 - 24th September, 2007)

Hayden's six was hit to the shorter side of the ground and there is a HUGE difference between the two sides. Yuvraj's first of the SIX Sixes almost fell out of the stadium but that too was the shorter side. I agree the measurement is not entirely accurate but not bogus for sure. But, more important...

Re: ICC Twenty20 World Cup, South Africa (11 - 24th September, 2007)

i think the six hit by hayden was way longer than yuvraj's
yuvrajs six fell into the crowds while hayden's six did not touch anything inside the stadium.
the measurement is bogus, it only computes the length till the ball hits an obstacle on its way to the ground.

Re: Just for Fun

Probably doesn't belong here but it has got to be a joke... Indians healthiest in the world http://www.rediff.com/news/2007/sep/21health.htm I thought India was the diabetes capital of the world. the indians are yet to substitute water for coke in their lunches and dinners. and make no mistake that...

Re: ICC Twenty20 World Cup, South Africa (11 - 24th September, 2007)

oh no this is not good. not good at all. these days whenever i click on an indian news website all i see are the senseless 'india rising' or 'india shining' articles. now i have to deal with articles like 'rohit brushes aside comparisions with tendulkar'. im telling you what, im laying off rediff.co...

Re: Im curious to see what kind of object this is.

The definition of "a stone's throw" is that it is actually not a great distance! :D  Are you saying that you cannot throw a stone when 50 elephants are standing on top of each other in a 20 m tunnel because the pressure above the tunnel is equivalent to 625 tyres at 32 psi? and i said i c...

Re: Im curious to see what kind of object this is.

the under-seabed cavern will store india's emergency oil reserves during times of war etc. you didnt see the cavern but i did and trust me guys this thing is a bohemoth. i couldnt throw a stone across the cavern it was that huge. also the pressures involved in constructing a cavern so deep under-sea...

Re: Im curious to see what kind of object this is.

It is a near-circular tunnel, 20 meter diameter with a flat base that is one meter above the bottom of the circle.  It goes 160 m in length. Here is the article of the Vizag LPG plant wherethe said cavern is. http://www.hindu.com/2006/09/12/stories/2006091219810100.htm I am not sure why they say it...
