Re: Australian Open 2022
Rajiv - Why not take the plunge towards ATP doubles (not challenger) as priority? He can continue to play ATP 250 Qualies & Main Draw doubles with Bopanna`s hand for 4-6 months and see where it takes him? There are 2 paths that are clearly emerging 1. Singles career track as priority till age 33...

Re: Australian Open 2022
Aren't you a Djokovic fan, prasen9? (Or is it that you are actually more of a Nadal fan?). If I remember right, it is Djokovic you back, yet you have daggers-drawn at him because he is using his 'money' to win justice... :-) If I know Prasen right - he has more of a rational approach to things. Bas...

Re: Mukund Sasikumar thread
The real difference is lack of tourneys in Asia. If there are tourneys in Asia, Mukund will still be close to top-300. Mukund was having around 40% win ratio on challengers in 2018/19 which enabled him to play at that level. But many of those were in Thailand, China, and so on. Unfortunately, now it...

Re: General Tennis Discussions
I just looked up the results after your mention of Gojo as I had seen Gojo's win over favoured Gunneswaran in Croatia. Gojo was unbeaten till the finals and defeated 3 top 70 players enroute to the finals! In the finals too, he was the main man and ran Rublev very close 64 76(5). https://mobile.twit...

Re: Alicante Challenger (Hard), Oct 11-17, 2021.
Good performance by Balaji! Seemingly played better than his career peak. Prajnesh reached a new career high when he was 29, so why not Balaji who is just a little older at 31. Bala is 31.5 yrs old. He had already quit singles 4-5 yrs ago - so almost has no rank. Even if he has to focus on singles,...

Re: Pre-US Open ATP/WTA tournaments
^^^ The problem is that the server where I had all those documents was replaced at the University and the old web server folders did not get copied (actually it must be there somewhere, but as it is not University business, I haven't pushed the IT support to go hunt it all down for me). I do have l...

Re: Pre-US Open ATP/WTA tournaments
Yeah is there a way to revive TennisIndia.org. I had mentioned about this 3 years back on a misc thread about a social media version of TennisIndia but some of us didnt come across as serious enough. Irrespective would be really nice to have TennisIndia - some of the content at least revived. It wa...

What does running a Twitter handle entail? I'm willing to do it, as I'm quite active now on Twitter on several topics. PKB: You can refer to our dedicated discussion between Rajiv, Jay, me on this exact topic 4 years ago: http://www.sports-india.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=219135. Unfortunate...

Re: Sumit Nagal thread
I think as we discussed in that Ankita discussion a month back - we will start seeing buzz around mens tennis again on our forum. Hopefully Prajnesh can also drop his rankings by November and then it should all be upward growth from there on for an year or two with wins over higher ranked opponents ...

Re: Davis Cup 2020- India
It would be tough for our singles players to win against their #2 Otto. Hopefully one of them can, it would be a good win. Otto was an Orange Bowl champion, defeating Zane Khan in the finals. He reached 25K finals in my neighborhood last week - has a top-200 win already. His career trajectory is sim...

Re: Pre-US Open ATP/WTA tournaments
Yeah there were weeks when there were NO updates. We all wondered what happened. Then they got more and more infrequent as the internet grew. I remember a pic of Leander sitting in front of a PC with your website on it. Maybe cutting a ribbon to inaugurate (?). Could you please repost? Yeah is ther...
