Re: Anirban Lahiri - PB WR #33 (28-Mar-15), India #1

His lifetime price money earnings are about $10 million. Holy crap. That is not much if we factor that $8 million came from Liv Tour which he started this year: https://www.nationalclubgolfer.com/news/how-much-has-each-liv-golfer-earned/ So only $2 million from all his efforts in his career so far....

He is playing Challengers because he wants to prioritize singles over doubles

Re: Geopolitics around major sports events

Thanks for the links, Prasen. For me at least: Your reasoning and justification is practical and reasonable even for people on the other side of the fence on this topic. On the topic of these ratings: I generally agree with them if they have highly integral and quality folks involved. Generally agre...

Re: Geopolitics around major sports events

When will the piddly island start? Aren’t they the “role model” of all aggressions? If the US has done “ghastly and unjust” invasions, what did England do to the world? Everybody should be doing. This is especially more pertinent if we are trying to play a leadership role for the entire world. We a...

Re: Geopolitics around major sports events

Srini may believe his points but there are many (perhaps the vast majority in the free world) that don't and generally it's futile to argue with those that are ideologically brainwashed. :D This is crux of the issue on why discussion is pointless. We take the position of holier than thou and lose t...

Re: Geopolitics around major sports events

I concur with Srini but this is a pointless debate. USA is the supreme power - all the atrocities will be passed off as lesser evil. For me, they are a bit like Trump (Russia) and Modi (USA) - they both have their good sides and ton of evil sides. Trump turns out to be a laughing stock as he is extr...

Perhaps, Rithvik does not have a visa. And since Serbia doesn’t require a visa for Indian passport holders, is taking advantage of it. He’s also entered there with SKRG for another M25 event next week. Btw this pair won their first round doubles today. https://www.schengenvisainfo.com/news/serbia-i...

Re: Women’s ITF - Georgia (Europe) W40/W25/W25 - Apr/May 2023

Just wondering why she could not play like this earlier in the match . First time watched Sahaja play and impressed with power and some angles in her shots. If she can improve accuracy and bring consistency has the game to be a top 200 level player at least I think. If we look at her record, she ha...

Rather surprised by the upset win from Sahaja (from what I observed, I didn’t find her as a quality doubles player). Keep going!! Doubles is a function of whom one partners with as well, beyond a point. For some unknown reason, she appears to have played almost all her doubles with Soha Sadiq. At t...

Re: [Tennis] Misc. Results for Indians abroad...

Hmmm. Now this is getting serious! Looks like Vaishnavi is legit. It is quite unexpected of her to be playing at this level suddenly. Vaishnavi is a big hitter in the Karman and Sahaja mould. Has one of the hardest forehands amongst the Indian players. Her junior ranking is low because she ...

Haniya Minhas in Girls won the Eddie Herr U14 Bronze medal too. The girl is USA based but Pakistan allows dual nationalities and so she will represent Pakistan. She is funded and managed by IMG.

So Pakistan indeed has serious junior talent to look up to.
