Re: FIH Men's Pro League
Managed to watch the game today. Agree with Safron Lenin's analysis. Very tight 1st half, where we had a couple of close shaves but in Q3 and Q4, we were good. The commentators felt we would struggle with tiredness because of such a short break after yesterday's match v. Netherlands. It turned out t...

Re: FIH Men's Pro League
Lost 4-1 to Netherlands B team. Pathetic showing. Whilst all the top teams are planning for the 2024 Olympics and trying out new talent, we keep going back to the same bunch of 'experienced' players and still lose matches like this.

Totally expected performance. Even worse to follow from here, especially from our batters. Any rain forecast?

Re: FIH Men's Pro League
Good to get 2 points, but we needed a win here to keep our chances of winning the Pro League. Now, it's very tough. We need 9-10 points from our last 4 matches and hope GB lose at least 3 of their remaining 5 games. We conceded 17PCs today (ok 7-8 were just re-awards), which was way too many. Far to...

Re: Junior Indian Hockey - men and women
I was wrong about Malaysia and South Korea being superior than Pakistan, who were way better than I expected. We were very good in Q1 and Q2 but a bit lucky to hold on for the win. Q4 was hectic. We made lots of silly mistakes when just keeping possession and breaking Pakistan's momentum was require...

Re: FIH Men's Pro League
by arjun2761 » Fri Jun 02, 2023 6:22 pm Great win by India. I think the Indian teams are reading SSP's posts and that is motivating them to prove him wrong. :D Hahahaha. We won 5-1 against almost full strength Belgian team. Only Hendricks wasn't playing, so their PCs weren't the normal threat. Very...

Re: Junior Indian Hockey - men and women
This was more like it. I think we were way more clinical in the opposition D today. Previously there were too many silly errors and we wouldn't get a shot on goal or a PC. Our PCs are still crappy. Anyway, the best 2 teams will meet in the final. Pakistan have looked pretty good here. However, the P...

Re: Junior Indian Hockey - men and women
Drew 1-1 v Pakistan. This is pretty poor stuff against a team that spends about 10% of our hockey budget. I wasn't too impressed with our displays in the first 2 matches. So many silly basic skill errors, pathetic PC conversion rate and some players who simply don't look good enough. I think we'll s...

Re: FIH Men's Pro League
Once I saw the selection for this round of Pro League matches, I was fearing we would suffer 6 defeats against the Belgians, GB and Holland. So no surprises so far. I suppose losing only 2-1 and 4-2 is a bit better than expected. We deserve to be beaten for our utter stupidity in selection and insis...

Re: FIH Men's Pro League
There's no point in watching when Akashdeep, Mandeep, Lalit, Jarmanpreet and other perennial non performers are selected. Belgium played several newcomers, while we keep going back to dross! Just hope things get better after 2024 when most of my 'favourites' will retire...or could be 2028!

Re: Junior Indian Hockey - men and women
A 3-1 win over Japan in our 2nd pool match of the Junior Asia Cup. Made hard work of it. Lots of possession and attacks but slightly lacking once inside the opposition D. PC conversion rate could be better. 1st pool match v Chinese Taipei followed a similar pattern, even though we won 18-0! ;) Pakis...

Re: Indian Boxing Thread
All 4 finalists won!
Would they have won if the championships were being held anywhere else? Really doubt it, especially the split decisions that went our way here.

Re: Australia tests & ODIs vs India in India, Feb-Mar 2023
Just checked the 2nd ODI score and saw we're being absolutely hammered. Probably the most one sided match ever (between the top nations)? Aussies scoring at 11-12 rpo.

Re: FIH Men's Pro League
Our idiotic selections have held us back for a long time (not only in hockey). There have been so many promising players that have been lost due to the lunacy of the selection process. Our other big issues are: crumbling under pressure (in key matches or in Q3 and particularly in Q4) and crazy decis...
