Re: Sports and Performance Enhancing Drugs (Doping)
So the Chinese state machinery has become an expert in how to avoid getting caught, but the Russians are still not there?

Re: Indian Boxing Thread
Since Amit won gold in Strandja tournament and was our only boxer to do so, I would be inclined to select Amit as he seems to be in good form. Also there might have been bias in why Deepak was earlier selected in place of Amit since that process is not objective/data driven and Amit may have fallen ...

Re: Indian Boxing Thread
Nishant lost in the quota spot bout, thereby ending our miserable campaign. I think our male boxers are quite hopeless, but hopefully they let Amit Panghal compete in the final qualification event, he is the only one with a chance.

Re: Indian domestic cricket/ players
It is unfortunate for Thakur that the seam friendly pitches we produce for our domestic games, we don't use similar ones for our international matches and hence Thakur doesn't come in the team reckoning. Thakur can be handful in SENA countries and occasionally in WI-SL as well (depending on the pitc...

Re: England in India 2024-25 : The Pataudi Trophy
I think the selectors did a good job in introducing in-form and young players such as Jurel, Sarfaraz, Akash Deep and Paddikal. However they also took a few missteps along the way in the form of Patidar and Mukesh Kumar. Another player I was hoping to be selected is Ricky Bhui. Saurabh Kumar should ...

I don't understand why few people are unhappy with Patidar being dropped. Does anyone really think he would have scored any runs? Would you rather have just 10 players in the team?

Re: Indian Boxing Thread
We made a big mistake not selecting Amit Phangal in place of Deepak (same mistake for Asian Games as well). He is the best male boxer and the only one with a realistic chance of qualification. I hope the selectors rectify their mistake for the next qualification tournament.

Re: England in India 2024-25 : The Pataudi Trophy
Gill was already a match winner the last time we toured Australia, and he also contributed to our solitary test win in RSA. The place he had a really tough time was in ENG, and I think that his relative success in RSA and new found confidence will help him do better in ENG as well.

Re: T20 World Cup, W.Indies/USA 2024
The problem is that often, it is not as black and white and then you have to take other factors into consideration. Things being roughly equal wrt IPL performances, I would pick Jurel because of the mental toughness and match-winning capability he demonstrated.

Re: England in India 2024-25 : The Pataudi Trophy
Who in their right mind selected Patidar for this game? That we got 17 runs out of him should be considered a bonus. Paddikal or whoever is next in line should be no worse.

Re: England in India 2024-25 : The Pataudi Trophy
I was quite disappointed the selectors/team management didn't select Jaiswal for the ODI WC (and instead selected him for the unimportant Asian Games tournament). As we can well see, he is a match winner across all formats and he could well have got us over the hump in place of just an average Gill ...

These 2 matches I think are crucial to finishing #2 in the group, and hence getting a slightly weaker opponent in the last 32 round.

Re: Afghanistan in India T20I series, 2024
Once again this match showed the ineffectiveness of our bowling attack. Our bowling attack cannot even defend a decent total against the minnows, how do we expect it to do so against AUS or ENG in a high stakes game; and this will again cause us to bow out in a World Cup when we are batting first. A...

Re: Indian Shooting thread
Theoretically we can still win the maximum possible quota (9 more to bring total to 24), however it's unlikely we will win full quota in shotgun events (trap and skeet), we will likely end up with 19 or 20 quotas.

Re: Afghanistan in India T20I series, 2024
Also interestingly Iyer is also dropped. So looks like selectors figured out futility of all 3 of Rahul, Kishan and Iyer for this format, which is a rather positive development IMO. Hoping for similar steps in future as well. They should have tried out a spinning big hitter/finisher like Tewatia as ...
