I guess its tough to have indoor grass courts unless they have transparent roofs that lets the sun in.

Re: India F6-F8 (Chennai/ Delhi/ Ludhiana) - Jul/Aug.
Thrilled that the youngsters Akash and Jeevan are doing well.
Akash had not done well even in recent junior events, but these results indicate that those struggles may have had to do with the process of coming back from an injury and hopefully he will now dominate in junior events as well.

Re: Prakash Amritraj thread... (injury an old memory; he's on a roll)
Right at this time, Rohan, Prakash, and Somdev are playing top-150 tennis (and maybe Somdev is even better). Hopefully, they can sustain this level for a few more months before we start demanding that they raise their game to a top-100 level.

Also a step up in level for Divij -- his first challenger in a year. He will need to start collecting some points as 36 of his 62 points will drop of next month (and there are no more satellites).

Re: India national team
Not surprising. Our best player, Bhutia, struggled to play regularly with Bury, then an English 2nd division (third tier) side.

Re: Mahesh Bhupathi thread...
Btw, I read that Mahesh will be patnering Nened Zimonjic at US open. That should be a good partnership. It will be interesting to see how they do. Zimonjic was not a top tier dubs player until his association with LP and Santoro (who is dubbed the magician and is a top 50 type singles player as we...

Re: Sania Mirza Tournaments 2007.....
against opponents outside the top 20, this will improve even more because her 1st serve success % will increase. if she can get to 70% success on 1st serves, rest all remaining same, her total % would be - 0.6*70 + (1-0.6)*0.6*70 or 59 %. anybody agree with me. You are assuming that she can replica...

Re: Mahesh Bhupathi thread...
Mahesh and Rohan is probably worth a shot. However, Mahesh will initially have to carry the pair something he has not done much of in mens doubles at the highest level. Most of his top level runs in dubs have come with players who were at least his equal (or better) in mens dubs or far superior si...

Re: Somdev Dev Varman ... (upsets two ATP top-150 players!)
He has incredible quickness and would be among the fastest players on the professional tour. However, I think he still needs to improve his backhand a bit to become one of the best defensive players....

Re: Sunil Kumar Sipaeya ...
It is pretty well known that talent is only part of the equation. Focus, concentration, internal drive, etc. are the other part. He is not the only talented player who has not made it. Hopefully, knowing this now, he can work with a driven coach (a poor man's Brad Gilbert) who can help him move up.

Re: Somdev Dev Varman ... (upsets two ATP top-150 players!)
Somdev is a class act who is already our best player. I have no doubt that he will crack the top 100 and maybe even the top 50. However, he is losing a valuable year in his tennis prime. But life is more than tennis and one has to wish Somdev all success in all his endeavors...

Re: Prakash Amritraj thread... (injury an old memory; he's on a roll)
PA being a rhythm player is probably why he loses easily once he is not allowed to get there by good players. In Davis Cup, Prakash actually has a winning record against the 200-400 opponents (only one among our current players other than LP) but seems to lose easily against top 100 players (unlike...

Re: US$75K Aptos, CA Challenger (PlexiPave)
Great analysis by Gigado! Since the courts are relatively slow, Echegaray will be a difficult opponent since he is probably very good from the baseline.
