French Open 2004
Myskina and Capriati have given a solid answer to those who seeded them lower ranked Williams sisters above them despite them having higher rankings. The rankings of the Williams sisters is low for a reason -- they have not played much. Notwithstanding their skills, their physical conditions should ...

Re: Leander Paes thread...
I think they decided that they are short on match practice and wanted to work a few things out. The Czech Open is the highest available tournament this week and they did not want to have the week off. So they are playing out there. Pretty bad planning, imho. They skipped quite a few good opportuniti...

Player Pages
Thanks Dhruv for the excellent work. As a selfish consumer, I think that a page titled "This Week in Indian Tennis", where we have a list of top 10 Indian-origin players each in men's and women's playing this week and where they are playing, with either their progress listed inline or just...

Indian Tennis Player Rankings (MOVED TO TENNIS.SPORTS-INDIA)
So now with their wins in the futures, Rushmi and Sania leapfrog Isha as the #1 and #2 players - about 355 and 370 in rankings. Ankita moves up a few places too.

Can Sania play a full women's (not junior women's) calendar? Or is she restricted to an upper limit on the number of tournaments she can participate in?

The INDIAN EXPRESS ... (Not together at Chennai)
I do not know if it is any person standing in the way. I think not. It seems to me both have started thinking that they are doing just fine with their current partners; why bother changing. But of course, I do not know a lot of what is going on that Jay knows.

French Open 2004
Our problem is that there is no basic sports culture at the school level. Leave aside tennis that needs some money, other sports requiring very little infrastructure suffers since we do not identify the talents young, do not have a good pool of young players, no good competition at the junior level....

Harsh Mankad thread (archive-1)
I think the player should know best. He must have withdrawn because his ankle was hurting or he was exhausted mentally and wanted another week off. Either way, HM has played a lot this year and it might be a good idea to train for one week at MN.

India Men's Satellite (Jun7-Jul2) [There will be ANOTHER!]
Yes, I agree that if you are not fit enough to go 4 weeks at a stretch, you should not play the satellites. That is why, maybe RB should be cut some slack.

India Men's Satellite (Jun7-Jul2) [There will be ANOTHER!]
Why is it not a good idea for Rohan to play the satellites? Last year PA picked up 36 points. For Rohan to pick up that many points in 15K futures, he would have to make three finals in a four week period - a tough task that I think he has never achieved. The guy needs the points. Unless it is a fit...

Does that mean she will get a Special Exempt entry for next week's tournament, now that she might not be able to play the qualies? Or is there no such thing as SE in WTA?
