Re: Prakash Amritraj thread...

[Q2] Prakash Amritraj Vs Vacek Pospisi CAN. The top seed in PA's section of the draw lost. He should make it tot he main draw and considering that grass is his fav. surface, he should go deep into the main draw too . Though PA has an easy qualifying draw, there are a lot of good players at this cha...

Re: Somdev Dev Varman ...

Hewitt d. Devvarman 1-6 6-0 7-6(2) Close, but no cigar....next time, Somdev. You have to tip your hat to Hewitt here. Clearly struggling with his game after a three month injury layoff, he came through in the clutch to stave off an embarrassing defeat (with due respect to our Buji). A true champion,...

Re: Davis cup ( for India ) 2010

Rohan Bopanna is a legitimately good Davis Cup player. He's not going to beat the top guys, but has demonstrated an impressive ability to elevate his game and upset players in the 100-200 range.

Re: Davis cup ( for India ) 2010

The big issue is India's second singles player, and Bops has been disappointing. At least he ought to be able to give his all for Davis Cup. He has been on the tour for a long time and is much senior to Buji. He may have looked good in the dead rubber, but those matches dont really count...players ...

Re: Davis cup ( for India ) 2010

It's too bad. Somdev really should have won his first match. Our losing this tie is on him, no question. Somdev would have to play the match of his life to beat Youzhny. As for the other reverse singles: Kunitsyn is not God, and I would give Rohan a remote chance of beating him. But the unlikelihood...

A hearty congratulations to Sanam for achieving the #1 ranking in college tennis. This proves that he will be a force to be reckoned with on the ATP tour.

Yes, a fair decision. Besides the match practice factor, Sanam is better than Yuki.

Re: $500K SA Tennis Open , Johannesburg, South Africa , Feb.2010

Ram should have won the match. He definitely should have had the first set, but missing some makeable volleys cost him. He actually returned serve quite well in this match - even Lopez's second serve is very good, and Ram did well to get most of the balls within his reach back with decent depth. But...

Re: The Dr Bhushan Sharma 2009 Indian Tennis Player Of the Year

Leander is my choice. Then Mahesh, then Sania, then Somdev. Somdev would be a good candidate next year if he shows a modicum of consistency and achieves a big result in more than 1 ATP tournament (not including Davis Cup).

Re: 2009 U.S. Open

I fully expect LP to be the best doubles player on the court in the finals. However, the MK-MB pairing is more solid in that both are equally proficient doubles players. Lukas Dlouhy is not a natural player at the net and his performance may determine the outcome. Note that Lukas is probably the be...
