Re: Indian Boxing Thread

Brijesh also lost, while Kavinder had a hard fought win over a Chinese boxer. Amit, Kavinder and Ashish were our best 3, hence would be surprised to see any more qualifiers into round of 16. Was expecting a few more. Disappointed given the pre-tournament hype.

Re: South Africa in India, Sept-Oct 2019

Rohit Sharma (Captain), Mayank Agarwal, Priyank Panchal, AR Easwaran, Karun Nair, Siddhesh Lad, KS Bharat (wicket-keeper), Jalaj Saxena, Dharmendrasinh Jadeja, Avesh Khan, Ishan Porel, Shardul Thakur, Umesh Yadav This is effectively the India second XIV. Not really sure about this; Nadeem is likely...

Re: India in West Indies 2019

I think they got the team selection exactly right for this match. Finally a sign of recognition after the world cup debacle that we need a solid middle order bat, and Iyer seems to be a good fit for that role. Also good to see that Kohli realizes that Rahul is not exactly first XI material. Also tha...

Re: World Cup 2019

I think there's plenty of blame to go around. In such conditions, you expect to lose a few wickets with the new ball. The blame should also be placed on our new ball bowlers, who were not able to make inroads into NZ lineup like the NZ bowlers were able to. Equally is to blame our middle order, Kart...

Re: World Cup 2019

I didn't understand why chasing would not work. If they bowl Bangladesh out for 170 and chase the target in 16 overs (which should be doable), that should suffice, shouldn't it? 170 in 16 overs ~ 520 in 50; hence a difference of 350.

Re: World Cup 2019

I would rest Hardik as well. He is the most overworked player in the team. Jadeja/Jadhav can share the 5th bowler duties. Either Kohli or Dhoni can play in Hardik's place.

Re: World Cup 2019

There were multiple mistakes from team composition/strategy today. Firstly Jadeja should have played in place of Karthik, he not only provides an actual bowling option but also we don't lose much in terms of batting. Karthik was never likely to succeed, especially batting at that spot. And I just ho...

Re: World Cup 2019

The 2 backups selected, Mayank and Pant should have been in the original squad instead of Rahul and Shankar respectively. Rahul and Shankar had done nothing to merit selection ahead of the other 2, but somehow the selectors refused to believe it. I think this was a serious error of judgement, which ...

Re: World Cup 2019

Once again Rohit proving to be the best in the game right now. Some of his recent criticisms on the forum just don't make sense to me. How the f does it matter if he is slow early on? In the end he wins more matches for us than anyone else. It's best he takes his time and settles down, because we kn...

Re: World Cup 2019

I don't think Kohli has been too bad as Indian captain. A captain needs to be a motivator and not a de-motivator and should handle stress well; and I think Kohli has done well in both aspects. The Indian team has also done very well under him, better than Dhoni at least. That Kohli has underachieved...

Re: Tokyo Olympics 2020 projections

I think Sindhu should be 1 level down after her recent performances.
Manu should be in the no-hoper list.
Bisht could move up a spot.

Re: Indian Premier League (IPL)

I think the reason for the regular's non-performance is quite simple. They are already feeling burnt out from nonstop cricket; and they may just have tuned out from the daily grind of IPL. What is important is whether they are able to bring back their focus for the series that really matters. Pandya...

Re: World Cup 2019

I don't think Rayudu has been in the team so long because of Kohli. Its the selectors who are at fault here. MSK is a useless cricketer/selector and you could not have expected any better. But now it seems the tide is turning and both Kohli/selectors are coming around to the futility of Rayudu

Re: Indian Shooting thread

Yeah if we were worried by the security risk posed by Pakistani contingent, why couldn't we simply put some security personnel to be their shadow at all times? The size of the contingent was only 2-3, so only 3-4 security personnel would have been fine. Would have been a simple solution, without too...

Re: India in New Zealand ODIs, 2019

I think Mayank would have been the best solution. He is a better player of the limited over format than the longer one; and he has also proved himself against international level opposition (in his weaker format). But I read somewhere he got a niggle, which is unfortunate. While Gill may be better e...
