We returned home in the evening and my wife got on her laptop computer to do her office work while I sat next to her on the sofa to do my offic...

Wonderful news to learn that Sania and Somdev have won their respective matches against quality opponents. Sania appears the have dusted off the rust pretty quickly. Wishing her a healthy 2009.

Buji's victory over Moya should inspire us to start posting in larger numbers in the forum. Sports-India forum appeared to be dead for a couple of months despite Saina trying to do her best to keep the interest alive, but there are few takers for badminton. ;)

[R2] (5) Saina Nehwal (IND,10) bt Hsiao Huan Chen (TPE,162) 21-16 19-21 21-19
Tough fight by Chen, but I am glad that Saina was able to pull it out in the end and move into the QF.

Re: Sania Mirza Tournaments 2009 ...

:Offtopic: Just curious: how DO they pronounce your name? I guess that this question pertains to my name and not that of Sania Mirza. More on it later... Mirza is not a difficult name to pronounce for many people except when some people pronounce "z" as "tz" as in pizza (see Prasenjit's post above)...

Re: Sania Mirza Tournaments 2009 ...

(I must say it irritates me when commentators keep pronouncing Sania's surname as "Mert-za". When will they ever get close to getting it right?). A rose pronounced any other way will smell just as sweet. :D Very few American friends can pronounce my name correctly and I do not take any offense.

Re: US elections (Did you know this? The Doc ????)

There are news reports that Dr. Sanjay Gupta may become the next Surgeon-General of United States. Those who live in USA probably know him as the medical correspondent at CNN. I believe that he will make an excellent Surgeon-General.
