Re: World Cup 2019
Gavaskar was 60ish. But then so were Greenidge, Haynes and other openers of that time except Turner. Btw, when he finished playing he had the second fastest hundred in the world cups which of course was his only ODI hundred. It was different era. And that is why Viv is still the greatest in my book.

Re: World Cup 2019
Many is a stretch, see below. Agree that he needs a starring performance at a WC to match Viv. In a sport played regularly by only 8 countries, 5 people ahead of you is ''many" when you are talking about the greatest. I would like to see how many were ahead of Viv and also what was the difference b...

Re: World Cup 2019
11000 runs achieved in 60-70 innings less than Tendulkar or Ponting, with a batting average near 60 (13 better than Viv Richards) at a strike rate better than Viv's. The greatest ever! He is a great alright but to say greatest ever is not right in my opinion. I think that would still be Viv. Viv wa...

Not only that. If Manu qualifies even through Asian championship, we'll have great chance in mixed team event.

Re: Tokyo Olympics 2020 projections
Why Saurabh Chaudhary is not in first list? Has he missed out on medal in any of the events he participated in? At least I expect medal from him and Bajrang more than Sindhu.

Re: ATP Tennis/Non-India Davis Cup
Theim has beaten Nadal once on outdoor clay courts in each of last four years. Along with Fogini he is one player I would expect to do well against Nadal. Yesterday he was playing really good tennis against Nadal where after the break in the second set commentators agreed that there is nothing much ...

Re: World Cup 2019
He is going just less than 8 overall. So I am sure he must be going much more than 8 in the death overs. But his record is strange. He has bowled 110 dots but of the other 100 he has gone for 269 runs. This must be highest rate at which runs are leaked of the balls scored off. I don't think this can...

Also it will be impossible to repeat 73 of 80 in UP. I think they may find it difficult to go above 40 there.

Re: World Cup 2019
And I think you are not right about Dhoni's batting as well. Earlier also he used to score slowly during the middle overs. But at that time, most of the times, he was able to hit out towards the end and take India to victory. That is where his skills have deteriorated. But why I am saying it has to ...

Re: World Cup 2019
Picking up a single match is a very unfair argument. I did some searching on cricinfo. The difference is drastic. But the sample size for matches without Dhoni is small. Still, I'll give data for Kuldeep Yadav for last 12 month. With Dhoni Player Mat Inns Overs Mdns Runs Wkts BBI Ave Econ SR 4 5 Kul...

Re: World Cup 2019
Absolutely agree with comments regarding Dhoni. In fact, it would be interesting to see Kuldeep and Chahal's performance in the matches where Dhoni played and otherwise. Also, regarding the batting, I think team management needs to sort it out. Dhoni is playing in a particular manner and it has to b...

Re: Indian Wells/Miami ATP 1000, March 2019
How high was Vijay ranked? I think he would have ranked higher than Ramesh at their respective peaks.
Ok so his highest ranking was 16. He made 2 Wimbledon and 2US open quarterfinals. And he lost both Wimbledon QFs in 5 sets and the second one against Connors after being 2 sets to love up!!!

Re: Indian Shooting thread
So in other words, most likely we are going to miss out on 50m 3p. Isn't it poor planning?
