Re: $150K(+H) Bangalore/$50K(+H) Pune Challenger, Nov.12-25, 2018

Yeah, 2018 has been the year where our current top players, Prajnesh and Ankita, have surprised all of us with their progress as well as tenacity.

Re: $150K(+H) Bangalore/$50K(+H) Pune Challenger, Nov.12-25, 2018

Sumit's free fall down the rankings brings him to 485 (as per live rankings) making him the seventh among Indian players. It was tough luck meeting the top seed in the first round at Pune. Good to see that he remains in the top 500. (In the shadow rankings Sumit is in better shape at 338).

Re: $150K(+H) Bangalore/$50K(+H) Pune Challenger, Nov.12-25, 2018

I don't expect any Indian to qualify in at Pune. Like you said, our top players are in and the good doubles players (VSP/Bala) are going to win a round or two.

Re: $150K(+H) Bangalore/$50K(+H) Pune Challenger, Nov.12-25, 2018

Several times, players were interrupted by spectators (at Bengaluru) moving as they were serving. The umpire kept asking people to sit down. Basic tennis etiquette requires one to wait till the end of a game to walk to one's seat. This is annoying and messes up the rhythm of players.

[QF] (WC) Saketh Myneni (IND,315) d (WC) Sumit Nagal (IND,310) 6-4 6-4

Easy win for Saki. Sumit was unable to do much on Saki's serve.

Re: $150K(+H) Bangalore/$50K(+H) Pune Challenger, Nov.12-25, 2018

Thanks Sameer for the clarification. Looks like the three points were done while I was checking out the other match. Hope Mukund gets better soon and is able to play next week. He is in such good nick.

[QF] (Q) Sasi Kumar Mukund (IND,418) l (4) Prajnesh Gunneswaran (IND,141) retirement

Don't know what happened but Mukund retired without playing a single point. Did he pick up a niggle or something? This would have been Mukund's sixth match this week. Prajnesh is now the new India #2.

Re: $150K(+H) Bangalore/$50K(+H) Pune Challenger, Nov.12-25, 2018

Just saw that Prajnesh won! What a pleasant surprise after I gave up towards the end of the third set when Prajnesh missed a chance to break Fanselow. Yes, Prajnesh will go past RamK with a win in the QF.

Re: $150K(+H) Bangalore/$50K(+H) Pune Challenger, Nov.12-25, 2018

Qualifiers are doing well as they have had more time to get used to the courts in Bangalore. I am seeing mis-hits of the kind low-level players (like me) do all the time. Hope Prajnesh gets used fast else Fanselow will bump him out. Good to see him nose ahead in the second set.

Purav and partner are through to the SF without playing a ball. Kavcic must have picked up an injury during the singles match (he may not be a vulture after all) [QF] (2) Purav Raja (IND)/ Antonio Sancic (CRO) d Blaz Kavcic (SLO)/ Tristan-Samuel Weissborn (AUT) w/o Prajnesh's match has started and i...
