Re: Indian Basketball Thread ...
204 cm Palpreet Singh Brar seems to be a real find...He's 3rd in the entire tournament in scoring (one of the guys ahead of him played a lot fewer games) and the other guy ahead is the 215 cm Chinese Center who has been the best player in the tourney...Brar is also 7th in the tournament in Rebounds ...

Re: Indian Basketball Thread ...
How come Satnam Singh Bhamara isn't on this squad? We have the makings of a pretty good front line in the future. We need a good SG and SF to go with TJ Singh Sani.

Re: 2012 Summer olympics
It's good to see that India is improving with each Olympics in the new century...you could argue that the Men's Boxing contingent deserved at least 2 medals if not for dodgy circumstances. Some of our winners won't be in form for Rio 2016 so I hope we have a new crop ready to come in and increase ou...

Re: 2012 Summer olympics
Good showing, I believe Yogeshwar had lost to the Iranian recently in the Asian Olympic Qualifier.

Re: 2012 Summer olympics
Lets get away from calling any country more diminutive than our people. The average height of our country is much lower than the top asian countries let alone the world. The reason is poor nutrition, no competitive olympic country has a population with less daily animal protein intake than our own. ...

Re: 2012 Summer olympics
Its rubbish to think that the larger the population, medals should increase linearly. In India's case, its huge population relative to the small area of land we have creates a disadvantage....to sustain a grossly overpopulated country you have to have farmland, housing, roads etc, leaving less room ...

Re: 2012 Summer olympics
I guess the boasting by the wrsetling coach was no joke...at Amit's young age, he also looks like a good prospect for 2016 Rio.

Re: 2012 Summer olympics
Sure maybe some athletes in other countries occasionally cheat, but I think the testing catches 98% of them. It's wishful thinking to believe that we are underperforming due to rampant cheating. The fact remains that the training in China, Europe, US, Africa and Latin America is light years ahead of...

Re: 2012 Summer olympics
Geeta never had the lead in this match and based on her 3 point move, its clear the better wrestler moved on.

Re: 2012 Summer olympics
The fights are decided in the first 2 rounds (barring rare knockdown) and the judges/refs know this. As one judge had it, Devendro clearly got in more punches in the first round. The penalty on Devendro sealed the fight in 2nd round. The 3rd make-up penalty on Paddy was only made after the fight was...

Re: 2012 Summer olympics
That crybaby Errol Spence was a flop in the QF and lost to the Russian. All that effort by America to overturn the decision and they still got outclassed again.

Re: 2012 Summer olympics
In sports like discus/shotput/weightlifting the guys come into the olympics with a finite maximum capability and any improvements will be in extremely small increments over time. Gowda really had no shot a medal coming into this especially when guys get so many throws. Iran has greatly improved in i...

Re: 2012 Summer olympics
I predict 3 Gold Medals today for Iran in strength sports (Weighlifting, Greco-roman and Discus). They know how to weightlift over there and they have an excellent all-meat diet throughout their history. Anyone know why India only does freestyle wrestling and never has competitor's in Greco-roman? T...

Re: 2012 Summer olympics
nnipp, disagree with you on Iran. Iran got pretty decent Vollyeball, Basketball, Table tennis teams in Asian level and to some extent in world. Iran are top class in Asian V-ball, Basketball and Football but not at the level to obtain an Olympic medal, therefore, they are not Olympics contenders (n...
