Re: Indian Wrestling Thread ...

Seems like WFI will hold fresh trials before the final Olympic qualifiers which is good.

Re: Indian Athletics Thread ...

We don't really have much except Chopra anyway. And, that too is in threat from a 20-year old German. But, I think Chopra will still hold. Murali reaching the finals of an Olympics would be a better achievement than some of the doubles performances in tennis challengers we celebrate on here. His in...

Re: FIDE Candidates 2024

Bit of a shame that the board is not celebrating this more. This is the equivalent of an Indian winning a Masters 1000 event in tennis even when adjusting for the sports/game's relative popularity. Gukesh just became the youngest World Championship contender at 17. Younger than Carlsen, younger than...

Re: Indian Wrestling Thread ...

Today ensured it wasn't a disastrous event for us. We might have small chances to get a Greco quota as well.

Aman's performance doesn't make me optimistic about the men though.

Re: Indian Athletics Thread ...

ffs this olympics is slowly getting worse for us. Murali was a longshot to win a medal but I would take any finalists in athletics.

Re: FIDE Candidates 2024

All the weaker players have completely collapsed in the last 2 rounds. Vidit had a winning position against Nepo and then gave up his advantage in time pressure before the added time on move 40 and then blundered again to lose. Today, he was drawing against Fabi and then again blundered on move 40 i...

Re: Indian Shooting thread

This will cause a selection dilemma instead of just sending Manu and Esha.

Re: Indian Badminton Thread ...

Terrible day for Indian sports continued in badminton. HSP and Tanisha/Ashwini lost easily, PVS put a bit of fight but also lost. No representation in the QFs :puke:

Re: FIDE Candidates 2024

Terrible day for Indian sports. Gukesh had a slight positional and decent time advantage but somehow didn't pay attention to his own time and managed to blunder his way to a defeat. Vidit again had an advantage which he didn't convert. Pragg with a very steady draw with black against Fabi.

Re: FIDE Candidates 2024

Better day as Vidit and Pragg both converted their advantages and solid draw against Naka for Gukesh. All 3 had white for a second round running. Gukesh is still in the lead with Nepo at +2, Pragg at +1 with Fabi and Vidit at 0 with Naka. The other 2 Alireza and Abasov are -3 and out of contention a...

Re: Indian Badminton Thread ...

Underwhelming results at the Asian badminton championships with a lot of mostly expected first round losses (would have liked an upset or two) and HSP and PVS barely avoided getting upset themselves and won in 3 tight games after losing the first game. Tanisha/Ashwini got a walkover but have WR #3 J...

Re: FIDE Candidates 2024

Today was a day of missed opportunities.

All 3 of Gukesh, Pragg and Vidit had winning chances and only Gukesh converted. With this, Gukesh joins Nepo in the lead at +2, Pragg is 0 and Vidit is -1.

Re: FIDE Candidates 2024

Vidit beat Nakamura with black and Gukesh beat Pragg with black and are at 1.5/2. Vaishali lost and Humpy drew in the women's section.

Long way to go.
