Re: Indian Junior football

I haven't posted on this forum in a while. Good to see you! Thanks for the link. I think podcasts are not big in India. They need to get on whatsapp with some fake news. That is all that Indians care for. Thanks Jay. Yea, I posted this podcast in my Whatsapp groups and I got 0 responses from family...

Re: Indian Junior football

I haven't posted on this forum in a while. I thought some of you might be interested in this Podcast (The Fan Garage Podcast) on Indian Football I came along on Youtube. Here is an example of one of their videos where they interviewed Indian Arrows Assistant coach Floyd Pinto: https://www.youtube.co...

Re: Rio Summer Olympics 2016

If you look at the video link I had posted earlier, you would see Somdev devvarman in the panel of experts. Nice to see him on TV - but expected him to make more sense of the incident than what he spouted there! He is on one track and one track only, change the officials who govern these federation...

Re: Rio Summer Olympics 2016

Everyone who cannot even come to 5% off their previous times or scores achieved just a few weeks earlier to "qualify" are almost certainly guilty. Especially if it is a repeated pattern. Yea I understand, but the same Renjith Maheshwary participated in 2008 and 2016. There will be bad app...

Re: Rio Summer Olympics 2016

I would take munna's posts more seriously if he wasn't using participation as improvement. Athletics: We improved, 34 athletes qualified in 2016 vs 16 in 2008 The only thing we improved on was doping and our national doping agencies getting worse. We have clearly regressed since 2012 while the hope...

Re: Rio Summer Olympics 2016

Munnabhai, there was no golf before this Olympics, so that cannot be included in your comparisons. Overall we didn't finish too well in that sport. The more appropriate comparison would be with 2012. Anyway, we won two bronzes and a gold in 2008, so the overall result was better -- unless Yogeshwar...

Re: Rio Summer Olympics 2016

Yes, I do appreciate improvement. But, you cannot focus on improvement only and not look at where we are regressing. If you want to do a careful analysis of the improvement *and* the regression, and make a conclusion, I am fine. Yes, the age has to be normalised by sport. For a lazy sport like eque...

Re: Rio Summer Olympics 2016

Someone who is top-20 rarely has a chance to make it to a medal in the next Olympics, unless they are under 20 or so. So, just counting top-20 is rather useless. I disagree, Dattu Daban Bhokanal came 13th in Men's rowing. He is only 25 years old, and his opponents who won gold, silver and bronze ar...

Re: Rio Summer Olympics 2016

With no more real chances at medals (except for Yogeswar in wrestling) Can we conclude, that India has regressed not just to 2012 or 2008 Olympics levels but more close to 2004 levels where we got a silver ? In2008 also we got a Gold and 2 bronze much better than what we got now.. We shouldn't just ...

Re: Rio Summer Olympics 2016

It looks like the Men's 4*400 relay team got Disqualified along with Great Britain. The commentators didn't mention why the team got DQed.

Re: What should the I-League look like?

Yea, it is understandable that you don't know the actual history of the communist upsurge in the old Hyderabad state and the current maoist movement. I admire the fact that you admit that you don't know that part of history. I just want to give you a tiny bit better perspective on it. It is a miscon...

Re: What should the I-League look like?

Prasen, I agree with your first statement completely. The relegating system between the 1st and 2nd division is the way to go.

Re: What should the I-League look like?

If you need to add a team, the system of playing a second division and relegating the bottom teams and moving the second division champion up seems like the best option. That way we do not have to play favorites. With respect to warriors, no sir. People from all states may have it in them and may h...

Re: Ramkumar Ramanathan thread

He is still 18 years old guys, may be this might work out well for him to train on clay. Over the long run he might end up having a well rounded game and playing on clay might also limit the wear and tear on his body while helping him improve his ground game. You all have a point that he isn't impro...

Re: What should the I-League look like?

Without letting more foreigners play per team, the number of teams should not be increased. That would result in a loss of quality. I would add a team from Punjab to the first list you have provided if we expand. Punjab had a long tradition in producing good footballers. Punjabis generally have bet...
