Re: India Challengers February 2024

A good solid play by Niki. He takes out Oliveria is 3 sets. Niki's game seem to be quite solid (more than even Mukund's), not sure why he isn't ranked higher.

Re: WTT/WTT Youth Contender events

Massimo Costantini ended up joining the ITTF in the High-Performance department. Maybe that offered him more security and the opportunity to head back to Europe. Its always difficult for coaches from Europe to adjust to the Indian working environments which results in their quick departure just when...

Re: WTT/WTT Youth Contender events

Basically, our players have been on a downward since the resignation of Massimo Costantini. It was under him that India won the historic medals at the Asaid in 2018. He was instrumental in identifying and nurturing many of the talents as we know. Since then, the Indian team has been without a coach ...

Re: $162 K (+H) Bengaluru Challenger 2020

It would have been good if some of those cancelled challengers could be moved to India by the atp. But our AITA won’t do anything to grab that opportunity. It's not a easy job to have that many challengers in India. One Challenger costs approx 60 lakh, considering AITA's budget which is around 2.5 ...

Re: AITA News .....

Delhi Challenger on hold due to lack of dedication & funds. AITA refusing to adhere to the Sports Code seems to be hurting them real bad with no assistance from MYAS

Re: Ramkumar Ramanathan thread

Ram seems to have completely stagnated in terms of the growth. Despite having a strong forehand and a serve, he does not seem to have the consistency required at the challenger level. More than anything, he lacks the on-court intelligence required to compete at the top level. Ram has little variatio...

Re: Australian open 2017

I was there for Yuki's final qualifying match. The match was quite tensed with the momentum shifting at regular intervals. Based on what I witnessed, fitness was definitely not a concern for Yuki at least in this match. I attribute the loss to lack of match practise(against top players) as Yuki was ...

Re: Rio Summer Olympics 2016

The start to this Olympics has been frustrating to say the least. Our performance in Shooting and Archery, the 'High-Priority' sport for the government has mis-fired badly with none of the big-guns being able to make an impact. This performance must have made SAI re-visit their figure of 10 medals. ...

Re: Tennis at Rio Olympics 2016

The recent news coming in is that apparently Leander has refused to share the room with Rohan. If this is true, it's only going to worsen the relation. I can see a 1st round exit for our pair. We can expect the blame-game to start henceforth http://www.news18.com/news/olympics/rio-2016-exclusive-lea...

Re: Rio Summer Olympics 2016

Sajan Prakash is a very accomplished swimmer who won a record 6 medals at the National Games, 2015. Khade on the other hand has not been competing regularly at the meets while Sejwal is coming back from an injury. So given the circumstance and with age on his side, Sajan seems to be a smart choice.

Re: Wimbledon Championships - Grass, 2016

Seems like Leander was occupied with his court proceedings where the judge has asked Lee and Rhea to solve their dispute amicably. This to some extent explains his absence.
