Re: WTT events

I suppose beating Chinese players remains the top hurdle for rest of the world. If a Wang can’t get you, a Chan will. Still, well done by Manush to beat two higher ranked Japanese, who are equally tough.

Re: BWF Tournaments Jan/Feb 2025

It was the Danish envoy i was thinking of as a most recent example of diplomats highlighting the poor hygiene issues. It’s true. We have to accept it. Unless we join the efforts to improve by doing our civic duties well, government cannot do it alone. https://www.thehindu.com/news/cities/Delhi/danis...

And Eric posts this as he leaves India after serving as the 26th US Ambassador to India. I suppose he has to say it. I remember reading how many diplomats avoid an India posting due to pollution.

Denmark's top player Mia Blitchfeldt leaves India Open in the middle because of Delhi's smog and unclean ambience, calling the conditions "unhealthy and unacceptable."

Yeah most of our young players are showing that killer instinct and dominating the later half of the tourney. It is extremely refreshing that it's coming from our younger players. This is what home tourneys good at doing. Who exactly are we dominating even in the latter part? We usually just beat e...

Re: General Cricket Thread ...

IPL has single handed destroyed Indian cricket. It was a matter of time when visitors, now familiar with Indian conditions thanks to IPL, would start beating the international only Indian teams in India. Anyway, this is just posturing. Regardless of domestic participation, we will keep choosing “sta...

BCCI diktat: https://www.espncricinfo.com/story/bcci-issues-new-team-protocol-in-wake-of-new-zealand-australia-series-losses-1469330 I recommended these steps several times even recently. Let’s see what the stated “UK immigrant desirous” does now that even IPL participation is threatened. BCCI will ...

Can the selectors really ignore Karun Nair now that he is averaging a towering 752 in the country's premier List A tournament? He just made 88* off 44 balls in the semifinal against Maharashtra. I’ve never seen anyone carry such prodigious form to an international contest. Any examples that come to...

^^^ Are you so down on Shrivalli? She is pretty good, and should beat the qualifier she is facing. I don't look at UTRs, so if you know that Kozyreva is higher rated, okay... I’m actually quite upbeat on our emerging women players. She’s the only one who might also win but I don’t get a good feelin...

Except the old warhorse Ankita, I’ll be surprised if anyone else wins. Even her win isn’t as guaranteed as it used to be until about a year ago.
