Re: U.S. Politics
Not quite US politics, but US has definitely lit the powder keg with Gupta plot and arrest. This is getting serious. Canada probably wouldn’t have upped the ante had the US not jumped in. Even the original “evidence” came from the US (four eyes ?) for Canada to adopt a tough stance on Nijjar killing...

Re: BWF tournaments in OCT, 2024
Yes, I have heard about Tanvi Patri too. So, we have some exciting talent coming up in women, next couple of years will show if they have it in them to reach Saina/Sindhu level. Here’s her story. And what a fine story it is. https://indianexpress.com/article/sports/badminton/tanvi-patri-how-indias-...

Re: Asian Challengers 2024
Mukund has a easier task rankings wise where he squares of against 500 + opponent whose name I have never heard before a guy called Biryukov. Our forum has several references to Biryukov starting from a long time ago. Even juniors. He may be a contemporary of Yuki based on the threads that came up ...

Re: Indian Shooting thread
I said at the beginning. I’m looking for individuals not teams. As I suspected, the best examples would be from badminton although we haven’t really had even a badminton great for a while but they have fulfilled the promise. Anyway, it’s up to your judgment. I don’t use junior results as a great pre...

Re: Indian Shooting thread
Since we started talking about shooting, one example is Manu Bhaker. She was a gold medalist at youth Olympics in 2018, gold medalist at world junior Championships in 2021 and now double Olympic medalist in 2024. Not everyone who does well in juniors does well later but quite a few do even among In...

Re: Indian Table Tennis Thread ...
Indian women’s table-tennis is emerging as a giant. Really excited about this team. They won the bronze medal at Asian championship, which is considered harder than Olympics due to number of player restrictions at Olympics as this article says. https://www.espn.in/olympics/tabletennis/story/_/id/416...

Re: Indian Shooting thread
I was talking about Indians. Age fudging creates huge doubts about juniors’ successes in countries where it’s relatively easy to misrepresent age. And, Paes wasn’t really a singles success I had in mind. But, will take it. Other examples? I was thinking badminton may have been our best feeder but I ...

Re: Indian Shooting thread
I’m sorry; junior results don’t mean much to me. Can someone cite the best 3-5 individual (not team) juniors who went on to become medal winners at a major competition in any sport? I’m looking for singles but will take doubles too. Thanks.

Re: ITF 3xW35 Series - California, USA, Sep/Nov, 2024
Sahaja was in a bit of a dogfight in the first set, as Lily Fairclough, a top-65 junior last year, who finished one year in college at the Univ of Sputher California . [R1] (3) Sahaja Yamalapalli (IND,293) l. Lily Fairclough (AUS,1075), 76(4) 61 Did Sahaja lose (see scoreline above) because she pla...
