Re: Asian Tour 2017

Looks like there are 11 Indians in the top 60 with Chikka at 61. However, the Asian tour website seems to indicate that he has retained his card.

Re: Asian Tour 2017

Shubhankar Sharma was on his way to another strong round when lightning interrupted. Hopefully, he finishes strong to continue the significant uptick in his performance. Good luck to Chikka on saving his tour card!

Re: Saurav Ghoshal thread - PB WR # 15 in Dec 2013

Thanks for the explanation, Jaydeep!

Unfortunately, for Saurav he couldn't win the R-16 although he played well in the loss.

[R3] Saurav Ghosal (IND,16) vs (2) Karim Abdel Gawad (EGY,4) 14-12, 5-11, 6-11, 7-11

Re: 2018 European Tour

Of course, Anirban had a chance in late 2016 to become the first Indian to win $1M+ in a single tournament in prize money at the CIMB classic where he was leading by 4 going into the final round and "choked" badly in the front 9 to finish T3 which still earned him $406K. Some of Anirban's top prize...

Re: Highest rankings of all the former Indian players please????

Yes, hard to compare the peaks across eras especially when the top pros didn't compete in the GS and the other tournaments during RK sr's achievement. At his peak, Vijay was likely at least as good as RK Sr., as is manifested in his record against the top players. Also, Vijay at his best was a great...

Good run by Saurav! I wonder if making the QF will push him to a PB (not sure how the squash ranking system works).

Re: 2018 European Tour

Thanks. This actually brings up a question. What is the highest amount of prize money any Indian ever made in any sports in one event? LP and MB never made $191K in any single event (may be 130K each for the Wimbledon title in 1999?). I don't think any tennis player has ever made that kind of money...

Re: End of the year Women's ITF tournaments - Indore/Solapur/Pune/Navi Mumbai

Height is a concern for Sumit too. He is only 5 ft 10 which is short by ATP standards. Or is it not that much of a rarity on mens tour for 5-10 players to do well as for 5-4 players on women's tour ? I am surprised that shorter women don't do well relative to shorter men. I wonder if some of the Ja...

Re: Hockey World League (Men's and Women's)

Any tie with a first string Australia side (even if in rebuilding mode) is a good result for India even in home conditions. Hopefully, we can come up with a top 4 finish here.

Re: End of the year Women's ITF tournaments - Indore/Solapur/Pune/Navi Mumbai

I think Deepa is 4 ft 11. I guess Mahak is 5 ft 4 maximum. I hope she can grow at least an inch or two more. That will really help. Yes, that would be great. However, it is highly unlikely that a girl will grow further at 16+ as they typically stop growing two years (on average) before boys do so w...

Re: Australian Open 2018

Saw bits of the Bangalore matches and didn't see the AO qualifying match. Noticed that the Bangalore hard court was among the slowest hard courts that I have seen with the ball sitting up almost like a clay court. This played to Sumit's strength when playing against normal hard court players. Not su...

Re: Australian Open 2018

Yuki and RamK’s failure to enter this tournament is truly bizarre, especially since Yuki once got the doubles main draw wildcard through this event. I am not sure about Yuki as many a times his scheduling and next move is shrouded under a veil. As for Ram it seems he has an unavoidable social oblig...

Good effort by SSP although he could have had an even stronger finish. Good to see Subhankar Sharma get a top 10 finish on the European tour!

Re: Australian Open 2018

Hopefully, Sumit's breakthrough performance continues in the wild card challenge. A direct entry to the Australian Open would be great although playing the AO qualies is fine as well as there are additional points for qualifying in. Previously, he didn't have much success at the challenger level wit...
