Re: India tests in England 2025

^^^^If there is any kind of causation, it is likely the performance of the other fast bowlers in his presence. For example, Akash Deep, who was a match winner in second test, reverted to being a poor bowler in the 3rd test. I think he was even given the new ball, so that isn't the primary cause ...

Re: Dhakshineshwar Suresh Ekambaram thread

Unless he is still rusty as Sabha noted, I expect DKS will win this match.

He finished NCAA #6 this year and NCAA standards are pretty good these days.
As a data point, from last years final NCAA list, #6 Pinnington, #7 Fearnley, and #8 Rodesch are now ATP #210, #57, and #150, respectively after ...

Re: Sumit Nagal thread

Sumit has moved back up to 286 in the live rankings. Making the final will take him to 258, and taking the title will enable him to jump to 206 (enough to make the qualifiers of the US Open).

What is the cutoff date for the US open qualifiers? I know the main draw deadline is 6 weeks earlier ...

Re: India tests in England 2025

The shocking thing was that, until lunch on the second day, the heroes of the last test (Akash Deep and Siraj) went wicketless. Siraj picked up two towards the end, but Akash Deep finished wicketless after his heroic 10-wicket haul in the Edgbaston test.

Still amazed at how good Bumrah is ...

Re: Dhakshineshwar Suresh Ekambaram thread

That's a quality win for DKS. He's our best player right now on faster courts.

Samir Banerjee also makes the QF, so collegiate players are doing well here.

Good to see Karan advancing here.

In the wrong thread but Dev Javia is also playing these Monastir tournaments without much success.

Re: Football: Indian National Team news ...

^^^It is worth a shot even if we are somewhat long shots. Looks like AFC has 6 direct qualifiers plus 2 that make an inter federation playoff out of the 12 teams in the AFC Cup for which we have qualified.

Japan, S Korea, Australia, China, and N Korea are probably a lot better than us but we could ...

Re: Aryan Shah thread

The previous week was a twisted ankle. He obviously recovered well enough from it to play 3 competitive sets. So he could have reinjured it or had some other issue such as a cramp etc.

Re: Wimbledon 2025

Nice run by Ronit Karki! He plays #16 Wazny of Poland in the QF. BTW, Manas Dhamne's first round loss to Karki in the FO juniors does not look all that bad right now after this run by Karki.

Kriish Tyagi and his partner Connor Doig (SA) also win their R2 matchup against the 6th seeds and make the ...

Re: Aryan Shah thread

^^^given the long match, may have been a cramp or something similar? At least I hope so, as those should resolve with appropriate hydration and treatment.

This is a quality win for Sumit! Hope he has a deep run here as the draw should have opened up a bit after his win over the top seed.

Re: Football: Indian National Team news ...

Women’s football was a nascent international sport in the 80s. The first FIFA women’s World Cup wasn’t held until 1991. The results from the 80s aren’t comparable to the results today other than superficially.

Re: Wimbledon 2025

BTW, I watched the Wimbledon PQF doubles match against Granollers/Zeballos which they could have easily won and was impressed by Galloway. While he doesn't have a really big game, he was a very quick mover with good hands and was decent from the back court. In theory, he complements Yuki very well ...

Re: ATP Tennis/Non-India Davis Cup

Dimitrov was well on his way to win when he got injured. Sinner also seemed to be somewhat hampered by his elbow following a fall in the first game of the match. Hopefully, he is fully fit for his QF.
