Re: India in England, summer of 2021
Sorry I've been away, although posting a lot on cricket and tennis on my FB page :-) (our forum is only available for me using a particular laptop on which my password for SI is saved; I've forgotten the password, so cannot log in using other devices). :Offtopic: PKB, you can always go to the setti...

Re: India in England, summer of 2021
Kohli looks like he is in serious decline. He has been consistently poor in 2020-2022. However, some of his potential replacements like Hanuma Vihari look worse, so it’s not like he’s blocking anyone with real potential.

Re: Sahaja Yamlapalli thread
Good win for Sahaja! Looks like she had a similar good run earlier in the year (as documented in this thread). So, here's hoping for more similar results.
Looks like she dominated a low level NCAA conference in her college tennis career, so she has a track record of winning.

Re: Yuki Bhambri
He did play 2 doubles matches after the walk over. So this was a walk over in anticipation of injury from playing singles?

Solid performance by Neeraj. Among those he beat was the winner from one of his recent competitions where he also finished second. His 2nd, 3rd, and 4th best throws were also better than the respective 2nd, 3rd, and 4th best throws from the winner of this competition.

Also, looks like he is prioritizing doubles over singles. Perhaps, he's made the decision that his tennis future is in doubles...

And they won the dubs in the super tiebreak (3rd set) coming back from 4-8 to win 6 points in a row.

OK, Atithee's conspiracy theory is in full flight here. 8 Indians in the second round and 6 playing each other is statistically on the higher side. Of course, the Indians did pretty well against the foreigners in the first round going 4-6 against them.

Re: European Challengers 2022
Interesting that both of our pairs are the top seeds in the doubles event at the challenger level. So they are theoretically ready to make the transition to the ATP level but the pathways for doing it is pretty tough since singles players can also take the doubles spots based on their singles rankin...

Wow, great win for Yuki. The fact that he won in 3 sets perhaps indicates that he is physically getting better.

Re: Sumit Nagal thread
I don’t think he is fully fit yet as he barely won his first round match against a player that has barely had any wins. The fact that he didn’t retire is perhaps an indication that he did not further injure himself.

Sahith Theegala has a T-2 finish at the Travellers championship. Looks like he will be in the running for rookie of the year!

Yes, just hoping he is healthy to play. He is still relatively young, so he can climb the rankings again if he is healthy.

Re: ITF W25 Gurgaon, India -June 20-July 3, 2022
Interesting conspiracy theory here! At least for this tournament, it does not make sense. In the first round, there are 16 Indians and 16 foreigners and the matchups are 8 Indians playing each other with the other 8 playing foreigners which is statistically quite a likely probability. That is, the c...

The AFI is behaving like a typical bureaucratic organization whose purpose is to lay down obstacles for the athletes to overcome because of some petty benefit to themselves. A progressive organization should be looking to help the athletes. What were they looking for - a form in triplicate where the...
