Re: U.S. Politics
USAID did some good but was a very incompetent organization with a strong leftist bias and leftists outside the US (and some in the US) are generally hostile to the US. A retired Navy Seal who worked in missions in an African country said that he had an example where 500K was given by USAID to build...

Re: Indian Challengers 2025
All 3 in the main draw get seeds with Manas drawing the top seed. Good luck to them!

I hope we are playing some of younger players in these matches. Perfect opportunity for them to develop even if we take a few losses as a result.

Re: WTA 125 "L&T Mumbai Open", Mumbai, Feb 2025
Missed this suggestion. From what I have seen, outside of a few ( eg Isner), most people’s second serve is similar. That is the dispersion is much less. The difference maker is the first serve. It’s probably a bigger differentiator in men’s tennis but the top women have pretty big serves as well.

Re: Manas Dhamne thread
Blessing in disguise. I hope he can get an early flight from Tunis to Mumbai and arrive in Pune by Saturday night. It will take a few days to get over jet lag and be ready for this R1 match in Pune by Tuesday. It looks like he played this match like he had a plane to catch😀. If so, I think he made ...

Re: Yuki Bhambri
^^^^He has 565 of his 1895 points coming off in March and April. So, he will need to get some good results in the next couple of months to replace those points. Otherwise, he'll drop back into the 60s by the end of April.

Sachin Yadav throws 84.39 at the National Games in Javelin. Would have been 18th best in the world last year (and is world leading this year but the competition season hasn't really begun yet). He is 25 already so isn't very young but he has a big frame like Arshad Nadeem. https://thebridge.in/natio...

Re: Indian Challengers 2025
Yes, fully agree. Our top players and the older youngsters are struggling. Makes sense to encourage the next set who are showing a lot more promise.

^^^ Thanks. That Somedev run in the US in 2008 was an incredible 28 wins in a row, but there were breaks between the 5 events. He had 10 in a row in consecutive weeks. Prakash had two long streaks in India (one of 13 wins in the 2003 4-week satellites, and one of 15 wins in the 2007 3-week futures ...

Re: Indian Challengers 2025
All round poor performances by our men at this challenger. We have been awful in singles for a while but have done well in doubles. Hopefully, we will get our doubles mojo back in the remaining two challengers but not very hopefully about our singles prospects.

Re: Sumit Nagal thread
Well now we know. He hasn't been playing well for many months now. There was some hope that clay would change his fortunes. However, while he is still better on clay, he is nowhere near his early last year form on any surface now.

What's up with Dhamne? The man is now a machine!! Match him up with Sinner. Okay just kidding, I am just happy he's found a new tennis gear! Why isn't he playing Jr Slams? https://www.tennisworldusa.org/tennis/news/On_the_ATP_results_with/152521/young-and-victorious-manas-dhamne-becomes-indias-seco...
