Re: Roland Garros Claycourt Run-Up Tournaments 2024
He may be sharing with his coach unless the tournament also gets the coach a separate room. He is definitely in a better place financially this year if he can stay in top 100 and make all the GS main draws. BTW, I read on Reddit that singles players get min 5 days from Saturday and doubles players g...

Re: Yuki Bhambri
Looks like Yuki was defending 90 points this week, so needs another win to defend those points. I title will move him to the mid 50s in the ranking. Good luck for another few wins which are much needed for him to move up…

Re: Sumit Nagal thread
Flavio Cobolli just lost 2-6, 3-6 to Nadal. This follows his previous weeks 2-6, 3-6 loss to Nagal. So, Nagal = Nadal?

Re: FIDE Candidates 2024
Even #6 Vidit has an outside chance if he can win 3 of the 4 remaining games. Good luck to all 3 Indians in the Open section.
I think our 2 women are unlikely to win with one of the two Chinese players in the lead likely to win.

Re: Sumit Nagal thread
I hope that is the case as that would mean no injury. :D Some rest is good as a preventive measure even if ends up missing a week or two of clay court play. Wimbledon first round loss paid nearly $70K last year, so completely makes sense to go there financially even if his game isn't necessarily sui...

^^^I don't know how they maintain handicaps in India or in the US post-Covid. Even though I play regularly, i don't record my scores for handicap purposes these days as that would prevent me from taking certain liberties with my lie (i.e., use of the foot wedge) or the local rules that I rather enjo...

Re: Athletics Thread (General/World)
Seems somewhat speculative. Looks like the prize money is only for gold medalists. Those that are gold medal contenders are likely already somewhat well funded and tested, so it seems unlikely that this would be a bigger incentive to dope (since the gold medal will likely be stripped away if they ar...

Re: Sumit Nagal thread
Taking breaks to recover and train is what the top players do as they typically play multiple hard fought matches each week that they play. So, fingers crossed on that is what he is doing (and hopefully he isn't fighting some niggle or injury). I guess we'll only find out when he plays next. The cla...

^^^I think one of the Wangs pulled up injured to give Korea the win. We pretty much need to win the doubles against NZ to advance and we are down a set.

^^^ I think an Indian WD pair was guaranteed to be in. So, Tanisha/Ashwini "qualifying" in is only in the sense that they can't be overhauled by the other Indian pair since only 1 Indian pair can make it in.

Re: Roland Garros Claycourt Run-Up Tournaments 2024
Well, if he withdrew, he would have withdrawn from all. The question is why he is not listed as withdrawn, right? That is the question. I think players disappear from the QUALIFYING entry list with ATP (not even shown as "withdrawn") only when they get a wildcard somewhere. They show up i...

Re: Roland Garros Claycourt Run-Up Tournaments 2024
I don't think Sumit had any direct entry to an ATP that he withdrew from. He was an Alternate or in the qualies as an Alternate. No Sajay, he made the entry by THU afternoon to both Bucharest and Munich, as the cuts dropped several spots into the ALT list for the main draws (pretty much the same pl...

Absolutely nothing wrong with having a girlfriend. Just not seeing any evidence that Sumit has one!
