At Meerbusch Challenger 80 (clay), GER
[R1] (PR) Jonas Forejtek/ Sumit Nagal (IND) vs Adrian Andreev (BUL)/ Alexey Vatutin (RUS) 6-0, 6-3
Surprisingly easy win for Sumit in doubles. I would not think that Sumit would be specially great in doubles but this is a very strong win for his pairing.

Re: Indian Athletics Thread ...
OK performance from him. 7th ranked Sreeshankar was going against 5 of the top 6 in the world rankings, so finish was fine. Would have loved to see his distance be above 8 mts though.

Re: European Challengers 2022
Solid win by Sumit, who is finally getting close to his pre-injury form. Looks like #89 Zapata-Mirales may be his next opponent. Given that he ran #59 Lehecka close last week, he has a chance even if he will be an underdog in the QF.

Re: Commonwealth Games, 2022
FWIW, boxing and wrestling are sports by most definitions. Average Joe's doing something for fun is recreation. Interestingly, sports like badminton and TT are considered to be recreational activities in the US, so the definition does vary from country to country and person to person. Of course, in ...

Re: Commonwealth Games, 2022
[ Lakshya will be turning 21 in one weeks time and he is by far the youngest in top 10 rankings. In fact the next youngest player in top 10 Malaysian Lee Zee Jia is more than 3 years older than Lakshya. There is only 1 player who is below 24 year of age in top 25 apart from Laskhya is his junior ri...

Our bigger players tend to slower footed, so not sure that we can play too many such players. Faster and more skillful players is the way to go for us.

Re: Commonwealth Games, 2022
My bad I mistook your prediction to say that Sen will be top 10 one day, which he already is. Not sure about the potential of the guy he beat but based on his results against the top Indians (and Loh), he should be moving up unless he is one of strange patriotic players (like LP or Sharath Kamal) wh...

Re: Commonwealth Games, 2022
Neetu in women's 48kg boxing weight class was the find of the Games to me; however since her weight class is not an Olympic event, so not sure if she can be a medal hopeful if she moves up. The problem is that Nikhat Zareen, who is our best boxer, is already in that weight class, so maybe both boxe...

Re: Commonwealth Games, 2022
Just saw the Lakshya Sen replay badminton highlights of the final set and it was superb. The guy Sen beat will probably soon become a World top 10 player. Sen himself is very impressive and is the clear Indian male number 1 now. Anyone know where Sen threw his racket at the end? Seemed like it went...

Re: Ramkumar Ramanathan thread
RamK is at a career high of 60 in doubles. In the singles, he is in the 230s. If this gap in ranking grows further especially if he can make it into the top 40 in doubles, he'll perhaps need to consider focusing more on doubles where he can have a much longer career. That said, he could still be a c...

I also recall us losing 0-8 in the CWG final in New Delhi as well with our prime minister in attendance. So, the Aussies have our number or we have a mental barrier playing against them....

Re: European Challengers 2022
I think Dan Added's singles ranking is 294 (he is 177 in doubles). Nevertheless, a decent win for Sumit!

Re: Commonwealth Games, 2022
So, 22 golds, 16 silvers and 23 bronze medals for a total of 61 medals. This is compared to 26 golds and 66 medals in 2018 games. If we take out 16 medals and 7 golds from shooting equivalent is 19 golds and 50 medals. From this time if we remove 2 para medals and 1 medal from cricket which was not...

Also add Neeraj who is pretty much 1-2 in every competition. Overall we are getting closer to world class.
