Re: BWF tournaments May/June 2025

^^^I hope to be proved wrong but I think Lakshya may have missed his best chance of a medal at Paris. Here's hoping that he can be a contender in LA but it is hard for me to see him being at his peak 3 years later as his game is built on quickness and athleticism which tends to decline as you get ...

Re: ATP events in Europe, 2025

Yes, Yuki needs a different partner clearly. Yuki isn't a typical top doubles player with a big serve but his doubles game is built on an effective return and back court game as a differentiator. He is good at the net which is an essential element of being a good doubles player. My guess is that ...

Re: Manas Dhamne thread

At ITF M25 Reggio Emilia, Italy (Clay)

[R1] Manas Dhamne (IND,754 ) vs. (5) Alexander Weis (ITA,447) 3-2 (Ret'd)

Manas was up a break when his opponent retired.

[R2] Manas Dhamne (IND, 754) vs. Justin Schlageter (GER, 1195)

Manas should be favored against a 24 year old former college player ...

Re: Indo-Pak issues, terrorism, Kashmir, etc.

I believe the analysis here from Jay, Srini etc. that this was a little like the Israel-Hamas(Iran) battles where the Israelis use precision strikes while Hamas generally tries mass strikes with unintelligent munitions with the hope that some of them get through. Note that Israel does bomb hospitals ...

Re: Indian Premier League (IPL)

The piddly island bit is a bit overdone. England and Australia are the only other significant economies that play cricket and they still have a per capita GDP that nearly 15x that of India. Without them cricket would be Kabaddi…

Re: Indo-Pak issues, terrorism, Kashmir, etc.

Agree with most of the analysis above by Jay, Srini etc. While India may not be a well oiled military in conventional warfare it is quite believable that our missile and guidance technology is pretty good and certainly a lot better than what Pakistan has.

I hope our military has also worked on and ...

Re: Mukund Sasikumar thread

^^^^i don’t think the above is accurate. Yan Bai is on an 8 match win streak winning the M25 Anning on May 4 which is his previous event. He did give a walkover at Gwangju Q2 but that was earlier on April 21. Mukund is playing an aging but red hot player.

Re: Mukund Sasikumar thread

Time for Mukund to turn the tide against his 35 year old opponent! However, Yan Bai is playing some of his best tennis right now having won 7 titles in the last 2 years at the M25/15 level including winning his previous tournament. These results are better than his results at his age prime.

Re: Manas Dhamne thread

For players as young as Manas, 6 months of development can be huge. So smaller recent windows are the best estimate of his current form. In the last few weeks, he beat Branccacio(390), Cecchinato (350), and was leading Travaglia (309) till he got cramps. Lost to Fonio (now 330s), Nardi (100), and ...

Re: Sumit Nagal thread

I wonder if Nagal isn’t fully recovered yet. He won only 32% of the points on his serve versus winning a decent 35% on his return games. Perhaps, he was just pushing his serves over to save his back if that is what was previously injured?

Re: Nishesh Basavareddy thread

^^^Why are we posting tweets from unhinged folks? Perhaps he lost money or is generally unhinged based on the rest of his posts. In this forum, most folks add value with their own analysis or comments. The rest of the internet is full of unhinged tweets if that is ones choice of mental engagement.

Re: Nishesh Basavareddy thread

Good gritty win by Nishesh. He saved all of the break points he faced, all 16 of them. So, the match was much closer than the scoreline.

Good luck to him against Kopriva in Q2 for a place in the main draw!

Re: Manas Dhamne thread

Should have won this but still good! Dude is playing at a 300 level. He doesn't deserve to be ranked around 750!

This is great news. Keep going MD!

With respect to deserving a certain ranking, the ATP ranking system is based on 12 months of results. Agree that he playing at a top 300 level (or ...

Re: Manas Dhamne thread

Hard luck for Manas as he seemed to be in a winning position against a top 300 player. I think he gets 2 points for this effort but more importantly he now has confidence that he can play with 300+ opponents.
