Re: T20I World Cup 2021

Fwiw, the best coaches in the US professional sports are generally marginal players. Coaching requires analytical and motivation skills which are often quite different from athletic talent which may often drive an individual player's success. Realize that selection isn't coaching and perhaps Cricket...

Re: Alicante Challenger (Hard), Oct 11-17, 2021.

I didn't realize that he had focus issues. Ideally, it is something he needs to find a way to fix. Making the top 20 in doubles also requires focus -- simply having the talent to do so isn't enough. There are probably a couple hundred players who have top 20 doubles potential but only a small percen...

Good performance by Balaji! Seemingly played better than his career peak. Prajnesh reached a new career high when he was 29, so why not Balaji who is just a little older at 31.

Re: AITA News .....

Not sure where to put this.. Indian tennis players affected by Covid, some on verge of making career switch https://www.newindianexpress.com/sport/tennis/2021/sep/25/indian-tennis-players-affected-by-covid-some-on-verge-of-making-career-switch-2363453.html This makes complete sense rationally. Re: Football: Indian National Team news ...

Our player quality is awful. Somehow, our WR is at #107 which speaks well to our coaching and defensive style of play but it is pretty clear that our player quality is right there with the likes of Nepal, BD, Maldives etc. Given that soccer/football is reasonably popular in at least parts of India a...

Re: US PGA Tour 2021-22

One more round for Sahith to announce his arrival at the PGA tour! He appears to have a well rounded game, so this will hopefully something he does again and often.

Re: Sumit Nagal thread

Not sure I would call the Jiri Lehecka win as being easy given that he won a challenger the previous week!

In fact, he can draw inspiration from the laws of transitivity in that Lehecka beat Travaglia last week in the semis, and Sumit beat Lehecka here. :D

Re: Sumit Nagal thread

Best win for Sumit in quite awhile. Whether it was loss of form or fitness or both, hopefully he back playing at a solid level in clay challengers where he is capable of being one of the better players in the draw on most weeks.

Re: Sumit Nagal thread

I think it is daft to switch to doubles when you can still play singles competitively. The professional tour rewards singles a lot more handsomely, so even a middling singles players earn more than doubles specialist (even if significantly higher ranked in doubles). Current prize money of our player...

Re: 2021 European Tour

Nobody can guarantee that the ball or putt will drop from significant distance (i.e., he won't be able to repeat it if he hits another few shot right after from the same spot). That said the better players have lesser dispersion in their shots (both distance and direction) and hence have a higher pr...

Re: Coronavirus SARS-Cov2 (COVID-19)

Hey, it is all domestically manufactured test kits and domestic lab and hospital (non)labor, so consider the corruption in it as some sort of an indirect unintended economic stimulus from the Governments! And there is some value on this spending even if the test kits usage isn't as useful. The empl...

Re: 2021 European Tour

Point wise this was his 5th best points for a single event. I think the OWGR points for an event depend partly on the number of top golfers that participate and this event didn't have too many from the very top, so fewer points. Also, golf rankings are based on a minimum of 40 events over 2 years, s...

Re: ATP Tennis/Non-India Davis Cup

So, channeling PKB here, the women's final is between 19-year old Canadian Leylah Fernandez who is half-Ecuadorean, half-Filipino and 18-year old British qualifier Emma Raducanu who is playing her 4th tour event and is also Canadian-born and is half-Romanian, half-Chinese. We are now seeing an expl...
