Re: ITF W75 Perth,Australia
Good to see Shrivalli win and break the Australian and Japanese duopoly of the second round as the other 15 players left are either Japanese or Australian.

Re: [Tennis] Misc. Results for Indians abroad...
Recall McCabe playing in one of the Indian challengers last year and he had a pretty big game. A little surprised to see that he is still in the 300s which is where he was then.

Re: Sahaja Yamalapalli thread
Sahaja is new India #1 this week with a ranking of #302. Ankita has gone down to #307 this week. Last 2-3 times, Ankita had gone down she had come back stronger to gain back the India #1 ranking. Lets see what she does this time. Next week, Sahaja will go further up with 9 additional points from th...

Re: Indian Economy
By "breaking through," I meant breaking through the bureaucratic and corruption maze which would choke most productive private enterprise and prevented any modern cars from being built or introduced into the Indian market to replace the 50's era junk that ran on our roads. The only reason ...

https://digitalhub.fifa.com/m/f99da4f73212220/original/edbm045h0udbwkqew35a-pdf.pdf Interestingly, FIFA has now adopted some form of ELO ranking but perhaps starting from a base from their old system. So, the two rankings will likely get closer over time. ELO ranking wise India is 163 while our FIFA...

Re: Asian champions trophy
Good to see India looking like the dominant team in this tournament so far. Hopefully, they can carry it all the way to a trophy.

Re: Football: Indian National Team news ...
Haha! That must have been a very short cliff -- more like a hill. Our football team has never been better than 100-120 in recent times even if they manipulated the FIFA rankings for a short while. Their ELO rating was always a lot worse.

Sure if you say so. At the world level, the Indian team is a non-factor - similar to our soccer team. We are barely relevant even in Asia.

Re: What ails Indian tennis? Nearly nobody in top-300s
Actually, we only have Sumit in the top 300 next week. Sahaja, Ankita, and Ramk are close and Sumit is in the top 100 but our depth is quite poor right now.

Re: Sahaja Yamalapalli thread
Decent performance from Sahara! Her opponent is lowly ranked only because she hasn’t played much on the wta tour because of college play. However, she is 23-3 in her 5 weeks on the tour including a win over #134.

Re: Indian Economy
Where did we say that private enterprise should not build arms in the 1950s and 60s? Can you point me to what you are talking about? We just did not have the infrastructure and the capability to build quality weapons at a pace that we would have surplus to export. Private companies did make weapons...

Looks like the retirement was due to "illness." So, he may be able to recover from it to play DC.

Re: Davis Cup 2024- India
Elias Ymer just withdrew from his challenger match at 4-6, 1-1 against WR137. So most likely injured enough to not play as the match was still in balance when he withdrew.

Re: Football: Indian National Team news ...
India tied Mauritius in a friendly 0-0. Even the match was in India, and Mauritius is #179 compared to India's #124, can't say that I'm too surprised by this result.

Re: US PGA Tour 2022-23
In the PGA tour championship finals of 2024 in which the top 30 players participate, Sahith Theegala finished 3rd with an overall -24 score (including a -3 start based on the season long Fedex Cup standings). What is remarkable is that he called a self penalty for disturbing a few grains of sand on ...
