Re: Manas Dhamne thread
^^^Let's hope he goes deep in the draw and can then claim a SE entry in the following week.

Re: Indian Basketball Thread ...
This is a pleasant surprise as Philippines and South Korea have far more basketball pedigree than we do. Perhaps, their best players play professionally in 5x5 leagues so don't participate here as 3x3 is considered an esoteric format in many basketball countries, for example, in the US? In any case ...

Also, since this is a M25, the points are significant for making SF -- 8 points which is the same as a M15 final. Winner/finalist make 25/16 points which is more than winning a M15 tournament.
Unfortunately, QF's only get 3 points -- 4 points would have been a fairer allocation.

^^^^ That is probably true on clay. I think he may be even worse on faster surfaces.

Good to see our youth coming through! We have a 17 year old, a 19 year old, and two 21 year olds among the quarter finalists.

Re: Yuki Bhambri
Seemed unlucky to lose. They were ahead 69-66 in points and 1/6 on breakpoints versus 0/0 on breakpoints for their opponents.
If he continues in this manner, he should rise further soon. I think he has an ATP title (250 points) to defend in April but the 860 points he has earned in the last month ...

Also a nice run by HKG Coleman Wong who made the 3rd round after upsetting Ben Shelton. We are now beginning to see more Asian players near the top outside of the Chinese women who have been good for a while.

Re: General Cricket Thread ...
Do agree that a 4 year gap is quite large for major events given how short the athletic peak is for many athletes. Seems like the Olympics and World Cup soccer were set up to interleave their 4 year gaps.
3 years would be a good compromise as 2 years feels like it is too frequent. Perhaps, the ...

Re: M15/M25- Chandigarh/Ahmedabad/Bengaluru-March 2025
That’s a nice win by 17 year old Krish Tyagi! Agree that he does not seem to have potential top 100 quality shot making but likely has top 300 quality shot making potential. However, grinders like that can make top 100 if they put the work in, so going to college and following the Somdev path may be ...

Re: M15/M25- Chandigarh/Ahmedabad/Bengaluru-March 2025
Kriish beat Hitesh in straight sets 6-3, 7-6
It was a good battle in the second set as Kriish was serving for the match and got broken at 5-4 having two match points. Hitesh had set points at 6-5 but couldn’t convert them. It seemed very hot out there.
Watched some parts of the match, I feel ...

Re: Yuki Bhambri
Now it will be interesting to see his strategy going forward. Albano Olivetti seems to be returning to action this week, playing Napoli challenger to start with. Will Yuki return to him now ? I think will not be possible of them to make masters main draw as Olivetti is still ranked only 47. So, I ...

Re: Maaya Rajeshwaran Revathi thread
Generally, these opportunities are supposed be useful for younger players to hit with the "top" pros and learn from them on training habits etc. So, many countries have younger players in their Davis Cup, BJK Cup teams etc.
However, Maaya probably is getting as good (or better) exposure to top ...
