Re: Malaysia masters/ Indonesia Masters (BWF Super 500)

Interesting that the 3 men who lost in the first round lost in to the WR #5, #6, and #7 respectively. However, our #8 Srikanth was able to pull out a win and now has a pretty tough second round.

Re: Ankita Raina thread

Awesome win by Ankita!! She has definitely stepped up her level and should get close to top 100 if she continues to play hard and improve...

Re: Australian open 2019

I had always said that the early part of the match was where Prajnesh would have a great opportunity to capitalise on Tiafoe’s mental weakness arising from the losing streak. If only Prajnesh had made that overhead...:) Then he would have lost in 4 sets. :D Tiafoe is playing like a top 25 player he...

Re: Australian open 2019

Fully agree with you, Prof. I don't equate Pakistan with "many other countries" as far as relations with India are concerned. That said, I do agree that Sania has no intention to play for Pakistan but I can't root for a country which serves little worthwhile purpose.

Re: God in trouble in God's own country... Sabarimala

Wow, this is pretty deep analysis and debate. Jay's arguments do make sense to me. Overall, while I believe all religion is based on myth, they originated for a good societal purpose which was to govern human society and provide meaning and understanding about life and its surroundings in the cosmos...

Re: India ITF Junior Circuit January 2019

Pretty disappointing performance by the Indian juniors as most could not even stay close in their matches. Seems to indicate that the Indian academies aren't very good at either identifying or developing talent (or both). Sandeepti Singh Rao had a good win over last weeks winner, so hopefully she wi...

Re: Australian open 2019

If Rohan isn't effective in Divij's service games, he would not be a good partner with LP either and their record shows as much. LP has a relatively weak serve who needs someone really good at the net to defend his serves. Conversely, LP is really good at the end and can help defend the serve of his...

Re: AFC Asian Cup - 2019 UAE

Looks like we have built a good defense and have a good goalie. In the first 2 games we were able to create some chances and shots on goal on breakaways. However, in all 3 matches, our possession percentage was in the 30s and Bahrain outshot us 18-3 and had a 13-1 edge in corners which speaks to ver...

Re: Prajnesh Gunneswaran thread

This may be a smart choice for development reasons as well. Playing more matches where he can experiment with his more aggressive shots will probably help him at the ATP level later. Right now, he could be one-and-done at the ATP level if he experiments in those tournaments as we saw in the Pune and...

Re: Australian open 2019

I believe Prajnesh has a solid top 100 game. I was hoping that it was even better than that but the straight sets loss to Tiafoe indicates he has some improvements to make before he can move to the top 50. Looks like he is quite aware of it and is working on adding to his game, so here's hoping that...

Re: AFC Asian Cup - 2019 UAE

Statistically, this was an absolutely horrible game. Low possession combined with being completely out shot speaks to a low quality effort. A little unlucky that the other results didn't break our way but this really isn't a good team at the Asian level.

Re: AFC Asian Cup - 2019 UAE

I read that in case of a tie for points in a group, head to head record will be counted first. So, if UAE beats Thailand, we will be thru as second team in the group even if we lose against Baharain. But, let us hope we win and qualify. If we lose to Bahrain, Bahrain will leapfrog us into second in...

If we tie, we will almost certainly advance as one of the top 4 third place teams.

Re: Australian open 2019

Of course, Yuki was also in multiple slam draws directly last year but was not fit to play to his abilities. Hopefully, Prajnesh makes the main draw in the latter slams directly this year and stays fit through the year.
