Re: Women's ITF Series - India/Dec 2024
Sahaja is 1-2 against Yashina with 1 of the losses coming right her at Solapur tournament in 2022, so hopefully it will be sweet revenge for Sahaja tomorrow.

Re: Fide world championship 2024
I did not follow today's game earlier but started following on chessbase India YouTube channel at around 6 pm and everyone was resigned to this game being draw and were discussing about what will happen tomorrow in rapid. They said white just has to keep moving his king and black cannot do anything ...

Treasa-Gayatri beat 6th ranked Malaysia pair of Tan and Murlitharan 21-19 21-19.
So, now they play 4th ranked Japaense team tomorrow in a virtual QF to try to finish second in the group.

Re: Australian Open 2025
This seems a very early entry list and withdrawal deadline is 1 month away ( 7th Jan), so we may see a lot of withdrawals and I think Krisha will make it to qualies too. Maybe Maaya too has an outside chance too but not sure if she will go there if getting is uncertain.

Re: Nishesh Basvareddy thread
^^^ Yes, he got a wild card reserved for US players from among those who have the best results from the challengers in the US in a particular period ( I think October-November).

Re: Women's ITF Series - India/Dec 2024
Akanksha and Humera will have to come up with their career best wins by some margin I think. So, unlikely. Will be proven wrong. Vaishnavi has had a few wins over players ranked higher than Diana. So, hope she can pull off something. Shrivalli has to also play well to win. She has a negative head to...

Re: Fide world championship 2024
Another draw in 17th game. It seems Gukesh had an advantage which he could not press home and Ding also defended well.
So, it is advantage Ding now with last game with white and if it is a draw, it moves to rapid where Ding is much better.

Re: BWF tournaments in NOV/DEC 2024
Yes Sameer. Gayatri has been a weak link for long time but i don't see the case anymore. She has improved massively in the last few months. Even, today she played really well. But i agree, Tanisha is superior front court player but she has been not able to find partners. Thankfully Ashwini has came...

Re: BWF tournaments in NOV/DEC 2024
I have been thinking and there have been comments on social media too that Gayatri Gopichand is weak link in this team and maybe Tresa Jolly should pair up with Tanisha Crasto who also is a talented doubles player who is doing decently well in both womens doubles and mixed doubles. But, seeing their...

Re: BWF tournaments in NOV/DEC 2024
I was losing hope on this team but they seem to be coming back strongly in last few weeks. That is a very good performance against a pair which won silver in Paris Olympics.

Re: Indian tennis player rankings
And as it looks like none of the top 10 Indians are playing anywhere this year, this week's rankings are pretty much year end ranking in singles too and these are our top 10 players- 98 Sumit Nagal (138) 366 Sasikumar Mukund (511) 394 Ramkumar Ramanathan (442) 467 Karan Singh (795) 591 Aryan Shah (1...

Re: Fide world championship 2024
Sad, so the advantage that Gukesh had is lost quickly, Ding appears to have played really well today. I guess it will be tough for Gukesh now.

Re: Women's ITF Series - India/Dec 2024
Btw, looks like top seed Costoulas pulled out from the draw ( maybe did not make it in time). So, effectively Sahaja is the top seed now. Unfortunately, our top 2 players, Sahaja and Shrivalli are in the different half of the draw than of that vacated by top seed. Hope some other Indian players ( Ta...

Re: India in Australia 2024-25
South Africa beat Srilanka in second test at home. So, now what I read is they will be thru to WCT final even if they win 1 out of 2 test matches against Pakistan at home. That should be quite easy for them. So, it will be us and Australia for the second finalist. Whoever wins current series has a g...

Re: India in Australia 2024-25
So, what are the world test championships final qualification scenerio now ?
Will a simple series win over Australia be enough or we need to win by a 2 test margin or something ?
